So buyer won auction for my computer against another person, wins it then messages me asking if it can run a game , then messages me I will let you know if still interested why couldn't he ask me this before hand feel like I'm getting trolled, what will happen if he decides not to pay ?

It's so easy to look at the specs I listed and look yourself if runs, so frustrated and angry

You need to either report it as unpaid or cancel the transaction (because of buyer issues) if you want your fees back.

I'd probably go for reporting it as unpaid but be prepared for the buyer to contact you in a hissy fit. If he does, just reply that he doesn't need to worry about it, you don't expect him to pay but as the mandatory 4 days have passed, you needed it report it as an unpaid sale so you could get your fees back and that is all it is.

The man will get an unpaid strike but you don't need to tell him that.

I wouldn't be telling the buyer why I was cancelling, I'd just cancel as unpaid. They don't give a toss about getting fees back. The less contact with buyers like this, the better. Just cancel after the 4 days and block them.

I totally agree. I would just cancel as unpaid without contacting the buyer. I was just outlining what I would reply if the buyer got back to me, sputtering about having ebay on their back with payment reminders etc. I would also block them but if I have the info right, they are still able to contact the seller about a current transaction.

I'd be inclined to just reply then that they could ignore it, I was not expecting them to pay etc

The last thing the seller wants is for the buyer to feel pressured and paying. It doesn't sound as if the buyer is that type but if they enquired, I'd head it off at the pass.

Personally, I would ignore any messages sent. Don't give them the satisfaction. If you ignore any messages, they're not going to feel pressured into paying, and then make your life a living hell by claiming INR or SNAD when the item arrives, and potentially then leaving revenge feedback, after they've sent you a paperclip when you said you'd accept a return.

Unpaid cancellations are not like the old days where you'd open a dispute, then have to wait 4 days before you could close it. Now, you cancel and it's done. They don't get the chance to then decide to pay after another 4 days. They are cut off and any decent seller will block them from revenge buying.

Good to know. I think it should be like that too. They get 4 days and if they can't pay in that time, then it is right that the seller can lodge an unpaid item dispute that doesn't give them the option of more time.

A few years back, we got caught out with that when we sold something. Didn't open an unpaid dispute till about 2 or 3 weeks after the sale, but the buyer then turned around and paid, then demanded we post it for free (it was pick up only). He messed us around a lot.

Then he immediately opened a paypal claim for item not received and won of course, and so he never even got an unpaid item strike because technically, he paid. I am glad to hear that it has changed now because as you say, it left the way open to revenge behaviour on the part of the buyer.
