Buyers not blocked but unable to buy from me.

Yesterday I had someone with unpaid item strikes wanting to buy from me so I removed my block on buyers with unpaid item strikes (temporarily). This morning she sent me a message saying she is still unable to buy from me.

I've just received a message from another person also saying they can't buy from me.

The only 2 blocks I have are for buyers with -1 feedback and buyers whose primary address is in a country I don't post to.

Both of these buyers are in the USA and both have high positive feedback scores.

Does anyone have any idea what might be the problem for them?

You have item location as Hong Kong but your are registered in Australia-not a good look for starters.

I am in Australia but like a lot of other people on here my items are manuactured in Hong Kong. That's why my item location is listed as Hong Kong. It is against Ebay rules for me to say my items are in Australia if they aren't.

I see a lot of sellers on here who incorrectly list their items as being in Australia when I can tell they are using the same company I am and therefore their items are in fact not in Australia at all. Just because those people are willing to break the rules doesn't mean that I am.

This has nothing at all to do with my current problem.

Maybe it was just due to being Friday - maintenance (glitch) day on eBayAU.

Changing your blocks in preferences should apply to any future listings, but it won't affect current listings (even if it says it does).

The simplest solution for specific buyers (after contact) is to add their ID to the blocked bidder exemption list.

If you want to permanently remove the block on current listings, it may be able to be done in bulk via Selling Manager (not sure, as I haven't checked), otherwise it's a matter of revising each listing manually to change the blocks.

Thanks Digital Ghost, I didn't realize that removing a block wouldn't apply to existing listings. Maybe the 2nd buyer also had a couple of unpaid item strikes.

I've now re-added the block, I have no wish to remove it permanently.

I had one a couple of weeks ago, for a single item.

I just removed the block for that item, emailed them, put the block back on a week and a half later and put them on my BBL.

And I have my blocks set to 2 strikes in 6 months, so they must have been naughty recently.

I find the best common sense approach is to avoid potential non payers. One low feedback so called buyer has negged me during the year after not paying. Fortunately the neg was removed by the NPB process. If anyone asks me to remove a block now I will ignore them. It isn't worth the risk to me. Always remember a member with one or more stikes has received it for a very good reason usually.

if you really want to remove a block for just one specific buyer (I do it reg.for a UK buyer even tho I say No Worldwide postage) you just add their ebay ID to your 'Block Buyer Exemption List'.

it's in the middle column of the Site Map (bottom of every ebay page)

For next time; when you removing/changing the blocks there is a box to tick "APPLY TO EXISTING LISTINGS" just above the submit button ๐Ÿ™‚
