Hi I am a seller in Australia I just got the following message from a buyer
Hello - My daughter loves this sweater, but because of the shipping cost, I can't pay for it until August 8.
Can you sell it to me now?
Buyer from United States so the shipping/postage cost is over $30.
Is there a simple way I can help this buyer?

Do you have "immediate payment" on your items? Don't laugh, sometimes ebay does it randomly. Check in your account preferences.
on the sweater, is it a buy it now or an auction item?

it is an auction but with buy it now option.
I cant work out from site preferences about whether it is "immediate payment""

Let's see what others think - she should not buy an item if she cannot afford to pay for it within the timeframe

In this case, personally
she would have been well aware of the shipping cost before bidding but chose to bid anyway
She could have contacted the seller before bidding and asked if it was ok if she did'nt pay 'until'
Oh hang on........
I think I read wrong
She can't pay until 8th August but expects the OP to 'sell it to her now' anyway ?

The 8th August is only 11 days away.
If you really think the buyer is genuine you could advise her to buy it now and you will wait the 11 days for payment. Just stress that if payment is not forthcoming on the day promised you will immediately cancel the sale to get your fees refunded.

Auctions can't be set to immediate payment so there shouldn't be anything stopping her from buying it now if you're willing to wait until the 8th.
Personally, I'd have no problem waiting that long for payment. It's better on the "sold but awaiting payment" pile than the "not sold" pile.
