Defect in item I sold

Hello sellers,

I sold an ornament from my home to a customer.

- The customer received the item and contacted me to say that there is a small hairline crack in it.

- I had never noticed it, but it was there at the time of listing, as evidenced by the pix in my listing, if viewed in close up.

- The buyer also didn't notice it in the pictures until now, having received it and comparing it with the pix in my listing.

- You can only see the crack in the close up view in the pix.

The customer hasn't asked for a refund but what would you do, seasoned Ebay sellers?

Perhaps send the buyer a message and ask what you can do to make them happy.

They may be ok with a partial refund.

If it's not a high end collectors piece, I would simply refund in full and apologise.

These things happen and then you have done all you can.

You may even get positive feedback for doing the right thing.

Thanks for your advice. 🙂

I did those things, they said no way, they are very happy with their item otherwise. It appears that they wanted to warn me about such things for future sales because other buyers may be much more fussy.

Hello Kits, they are out there. Most are lovely and I agree with Kopes.

Hairline cracks too, are so easy to overlook. I have a wee little LED magnifier. It helps a lot.

If you are still looking to square off, perhaps you could think of something nice to send them.

Nice customers. Nice story.

Melina.
