Do I need a paypal premium/business account to accept paypal payments?

I have a personal paypal.

I'm trying to find this information out, but all the searches I've done have either said I can, or I can't.

I'm so confused.

Which do I need? Personal, or Premium or Business?

Our two PayPal accounts are both Premium and have been working well for some years now.

You cannot accept payments into a personal paypal account.

You need a premium or business account.

See, this is contrary to even what ebay says in its seller guide. How come ebay let me list without having a premium account? 

I'm so confused. I can't even get a premium account through paypal. It's either personal or business.

OK, so now they are calling it a business account....that is what you need to accpet payments.

Ebay does not know what sort of account you have.  The problems will start to show when your buyers are unable to pay you because you have the wrong account.

I cannot get a buisness account as I am not a buisness.

I am just a regular person wanting to sell **bleep** on ebay.

Everywhere I look I keep getting conflicting information.

Oh, and nowhere on ebay when I started trying to sell stuff, did it say that I needed a paypal buisness account to accept paypal. It would have been really useful since people have now bidded on items I can't sell them 😧

Which is going to ruin my reputation as a seller before I've even been able to sell anything!!! Yikes!!!

I selected paypal as the only accepted form of payment because apparently it's 'safer'... but now I find out I can't even use my paypal to do things paypal is meant to do!!!

Ebay really need a new sellers guide that really lays things out for those of us who have never done this before!!!

So now I have no idea what to do with listings I've already made that have bids on them!!!

Do I cancel them?

Can I get paid for them?

You do not need to be a registered business to have a paypal business account.  That is what it is called by paypal, to differentiate it from the personal account used by individuals to transfer money between family and friends.  We do not pay any fees on a personal account but you do on a business account when you accept payments.

Do not cancel anything....just upgrade your paypal account.  As long as it is still the same email address that you have on your listings you will receive your money.

I do not need to upgrade my paypal account according to customer service.

I tried to upgrade it and it needed a separate business address.

All this conflicting information is utterly confusing. I have no idea what I am actually meant to do now.

Customer service said just retain my personal paypal. Other say get premium which does not exist. Other say upgrade to business but I need to have a business address that is verified by Australia Post... So confused. 😧
