Hey Guys,
So i thought it would get in early and sell an Iphone 5 i had on preorder. I put it for sale with a 0.25 reserve and a 1500 dollar buy it now price. The next morning i work up and it had sold for 1500 dollar. I was pretty happy with this, however Ebay was soon to inform me that the buyers account had acually been hacked and they cancelled the transaction.
I decided i would repost the item however Ebay turned around and said that as i had already posted on item earlier in the week i would have to wait another week untill i reposted it. I rang up ebay to try and get this fixed, the first 3 people said I couldn't do anything about it, ,the 4th bloke i spoke to said he would get it fixed. It is still not fixed.
Ebay, why am i being penalised for a fradulent seller bidding on my item. I feel that out of this whole situation i am the only person who has been penalised.
As well why when i am told something will get fixed straight away, doesn't it. In the end i was hoping to get a higher presale price for the item, as it goes on sale tomorrow i wont be able to do this so i will be looking at selling it elsewhere and i will honestly think twice about ever selling on ebay again.

Apple iPhone 5 presales
Most sellers will be allowed to list an Apple iPhone 5 during the pre-sale period prior to the launch date of September 21, as long as they are in full compliance with eBay's Presale policy. Also:minimum performance standards will be allowed to list 1 item per week. All sellers must upload tracking upon postage
Part of message from ebay. As you have f/b of only 1, I think you would come under only allowed to list 1 item per week. Hope this helps

I can't help with your current issue, but I'm posting the following information so that if you do decide to relist on eBay, you can take a few steps to help prevent this from happening again. It's a lot of info, some of which may seem irrelevant now, but handy to know and posted specifically for how to set up certain blocks.
Just as an aside, if you do use a Buy It Now option, you can make it so that immediate payment is required (that is, the item isn't sold until it's paid for via PayPal, which will cut out a good percentage of scammers, but for your own protection, make sure that the phone is sent fully registered and insured).

If an ID with good feedback wins your auction then asks you to post to Nigeria, it means the Nigerian Scammer has hijacked another member's account to place bids.
If this happens, you can report it through Account Security Live Help:
http://contact.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ShowCUPortal&guest=1
and / or the webform :
Account Security > Unauthorised Account Activity > Report another userโs ID as stolen
http://pages.ebay.com.au/help/contact_us/_base/index_selection.html
When an account is reported as stolen, eBay generally remove the listing, email you and refund your listing fee although you may need to request a final value fee.
Check your Account > Seller Account ( top of page ) in your My eBay.
If the final value fee has not been refunded ,you can request it through Live Help General Support:
http://contact.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ShowCUPortal
Or by email:
Selling and managing your item > Fraud and Transaction Problems > Getting a final value fee credit when buyer doesn't pay
http://pages.ebay.com.au/help/contact_us/_base/index_selection.html
If a newly registered ( 0 feedback )Nigerian Scammer wins your auction, report it through Live Help:
http://contact.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ShowCUPortal&guest=1
and / or the webform :
http://pages.ebay.com.au/help/policies/identity-false.html
When the member ID is NARU (not a registered user) you can file an Unpaid Item Dispute through your Account > Resolution Centre (top of page) in your my eBay using the reason "buyer is no longer registered".
Your final value fees will be refunded to you immediately.
Put these buyer blocks in place. Go to:
My eBay > Account > Site Preferences > Postage preferences > Show >
Exclude postage locations from your listings from your listings > Edit .......
and Select the countries you donโt post to.
Tick โฆ Apply to all current live listings
Click โฆApply
And
My eBay > Account > Site Preferences > Buyer Requirements > Show > Edit .......and tick:
1. Buyers in locations to which I don't post
2. Block buyers who haven't gone through phone verificationโฆ
3. Only apply this block to buyers who have a feedback score of 5 or lower
(Having a Paypal Account and / or Credit Card details on file overrides this block)
Tick all other blocks of your choice.
Tick โฆApply above settings to active and future listings.
Click โฆSubmit
Do not use a BIN (Buy It Now) option when relisting your item.
Beware of further spoof / phishing emails you may receive . Do not open them and do not click on any links.
As a precaution , run all your spyware, keylogging and virus protection and change your passwords ( something which should be done on a regular basis anyway)

I am really confused .... not about the eBay restriction but I'm confused as to why there would be a market for an iphone 5 on eBay for more than what it would cost to buy one direct from Apple ?:|

austeam, it think it is because to buy one tomorrow from apple you will have to start lining up yesterday, and stay in line for at least 2 or 3 days, just to be ''first'''...
crazy or what.

Wouldn't it be easier just to read the announcement and policy on iPhone 5 sales?

So i guess my biggest issues with Ebay are
a: Why even after brining my issue to your call center's attention (not that i would class them as a call center, instead a sweet shop who is capiable of answering phone calls) and they told me the issue would be fixed within 24 hours, wasn't it.
b: If all of these awesome settings are in place, why aren't they set up as standard.
At the end of the day it is the worst customer service i have ever recieved. You call center is worse then useless. Considering that i was prepared to pay Ebay's ridiculas over the top sales charges, why couldn't they fix this issue for me once it was brought to their attention. It is amazing when a company gets to a certain size, they have the ability to stop looking after their customers and fixing their own problems.

eBay staff don't read/respond to threads in the community forums - it's just other members like yourself.
Those blocks aren't set in place by default simply because they prevent sales, and eBay would be in a bigger firing line from sellers if they discovered a whole bunch of sales were prevented due to no action on their part.
