Hiya
Just wanted to vent as I received my first 'neutral' feedback today. Ok, I sell used DVDs and I do state that there may be problems, however if this is the case, I am willing to give a refund and have done for all my customers that are not happy.
Today this customer never emailed me or anything and then put up neutral feedback which makes me look really bad. Even though I am a powerseller with 100% positive feedback, as a used DVD seller this can kill my business.
Why can't ebay allow us to view negative or neutral feedback first and approach the buyer to come to an agreement before they post it up? Cos I would have been happy to refund this seller rather than trash my business and make me look bad.
I do try to test all my DVDs but of course watching 120 minutes of footage each time I send out a DVD is a little too much. I do play them in the background and have a disc cleaner but in my line of sale, it's not always guaranteed as it could even get scratched through the post, so I offer a full refund because of this.
Uggh am really frustrated and am already feeling the drop in my sales this month, the neutral feedback just isn't going to help me at all.
Thanks for listening to me vent.. if anyone reads this ๐

It won't make you look bad, can barely see the neuts and it doesn't affect your rating. Many buyers don't even look at actual feedback but look at your score on the item listing page.
Also if your account is quite active, won't take long before it's on page 2.
Also buyers need to have made contact before they can leave a neg, but not a neut.
Nearly 400 and 100%, doing well, good on you.:-)

Thanks for the reply. Does make me feel a bit better hearing it from someone else. I do like to make my customers happy as I know what it's like to be an unsatisfied buyer on ebay and try to represent all my products as honestly as I can.
Of course, everyone views things differently so what I see as 'good' might not be in someone elses eyes but hopefully I can keep going on a positive and keep the customers happy.
Anyhoo thanks again for putting a positive spin on it. ๐

I think most sellers would agree with you. Buyers should contact sellers first if they have any concerns or are not happy with their purchase.
If a buyer goes to leave a neutral or a negative feedback a popup message says
Before you leave this Feedback, please contact your seller to see if anything else can be done to make your experience positive. Sellers want you to be happy, and so do we.
Unfortunately this doesn't always happen and the first a seller hears about a problem is when they see a grey or red dot appear.

Don't take it to heart. You have one neutral out of all the many positives you have, which are all great comments. If I was looking at buying from you, the neutral wouldn't bother me, in any case you have posted a reply where you indicate you would have happily refunded, this shows me that you are willing to resolve issues with buyers. I don't think you have anything to worry about, but I do understand your frustration.

It is most unlikely that the newbie would be looking at your FB again. You could send them polite message pointing out that leaving less than positive FB without first trying to resolve the situation is not the thing to do.
You could always block them from bidding again. But I am sure there was no malice; eBay tells them to rate as they feel about the transaction; and they feel either happy nor unhappy. The 1 neutral is not significant; wonder what they did with DSR, though.

My advice would be to get over it quickly. If one silly grey dot causes such anguish what is going to happen if you receive a neg?
Looking at the number of buyers who come here with problems and on looking at the seller's feedback they have dozens of negs I doubt if a single neut will make a scrap of difference.

Just a follow up to thank everyone for their responses. I know it's only one neutral and it's not a massive thing but it's like buying a new car and finding your first scratch hehe
I just find it weird that ebay allows people to leave neutral feedback without checking with the seller first but hey, I'm glad to have found out that negative feedback is different.
Thanks again and hope everyone has a great weekend. ๐

So, you are selling dodgy DVD's but when you get a neutral feedback you complain??????

No not true k5.
A buyer can leave any FB they want without contacting the seller at all.
When a buyer goes to leave a neg or neut they are asked if they are sure they want to proceed and all that needs to be done is click on yes and it is done.
