Ebays delivery estimates

How can a seller tell what estimated delivery date ebay told a customer the item would arrive? I have a customer in SA who has opened an "item not received dispute" today and I got the order on monday night posted tueday from Country NSW to SA.

If you look at one of your own listings, then switch to the Postage & Payments tab and change the postcode to your buyer's post code, then click 'Get Rates', the delivery time-frame will be recalculated and show how many days eBay "guesstimate" an item will take to get from you to a buyer in that postcode (including your stated handling time - don't forget to change the PC back to your own, or you may see incorrect postage quotes on listings using calculated postage etc).

I wish eBay's estimates were either more realistic, or made it very clear they in fact are a third party estimate, by a company that has no involvement in the delivery process whatsoever. Issues like this are on the increase because buyers A) treat it like a guarantee and B) seemingly panic and (sadly) open disputes far too early. Smiley Sad

I believe an eBay rep recently told a seller that they should put a disclaimer on their listings if they wanted buyers to be aware the delivery estimate was just that (seller got a neg because an item was delivered past the "due date") - wouldn't have to if eBay didn't put the estimate there in the first place, then  leave it up to sellers to deal with all the consequences. Smiley Mad

I have had this problem and now my listings contain the following:

DELIVERY
Your item will be posted the next working day after cleared payment is received. We will send this stamp album as a PDF file on a CD by Standard Mail which has no tracking facility. Consequently, we are unable to assist should your item be lost in the mail. Should you require the added security provided by a tracking number please select the Express Post option. This will cost an additional amount.

To save on postage costs the CD will be shipped in a plastic sleeve in a padded envelope. No CD case is provided.

Ebay determines a range of estimated delivery dates which may vary especially during peak periods. Delivery time may be shorter or longer than estimated by Ebay depending on the postal service. This is something which is outside our control.

Please feel free to use it on your listings (making changes to suit your item).

Best wishes

Robert

I regularly have items coming to Sydney from Adelaide...it takes 4 days.  If it is posted on Monday morning I get it on Thursday morning. or very rarely Friday.

stampingpaws why waste space saying you will not be responsible for items unless the buyer chooses the express option? This is totally untrue as you will have no choice but to refund if a Paypal dispute is opened.

I post orders from regional Vic and can totally sympathise - the Aussie Post estimate is approx. 4 days to places like S.A or W.A but it usually seems to take a week/ 5 business days at the least and often longer (the worst I've had is about 2 weeks for delivery).  A few months ago I received some low DSRs for postage time (despite posting same or next business day) - I think from some customers in those states who were judging me on how quickly the post arrived rather than how quickly I posted their items.   I have consequently bumped up the handling time on my listings - I still post quite quickly as always - but the Ebay calculator factors in the extra time so when a customer in S.A, W.A or  N.T etc looks at the listings they have a more realistic estimate of the postage delivery time.

I had feedback from an S.A customer a few weeks ago and when I realised their package had actually arrived in 4 days for once, I nearly fell off my chair with surprise.
