Er very confused re seller fees

Er , if it only costs $3 apparently to list something starting at $900 why on earth does it cost $1.50 to list something only starting at $20??

Huge difference in value between an item starting at $20 and one at $900 and yet comparitively high listing fee for something that is soo much lower in starting price.....

Have I got this correct?

Hi, er what about the high 7% FVF that comes with a store.... no one is mentioning that.

hmm what would that be on an item sold for around $22 about $1.70 ish,   so the lower insertion fee means a lot less if the FVF is so much higher.

Mind u its a bit lower than $1.50 insertion fee plus FVF for normal auction, so I guess I will save a little but not much if my sums are correct. BTW Are my sums correct??

I guess the best thing to do is to do a trial period with lots of sums and see which method gives more profit? : )

Yep smileys are always good leader-of-the-band, I guess its not so much that I appreciate friendly advice (tho of course I do) I just dont appreciate the tone of some other posts.......: )

Okay, the FVF is a little higher in normal selling coming in at $7.90 so maybe a store is the way to go, as i say I will have to try it and crunch the numbers >>>> : )

Also is it true that when you open a store you are limited to the number of things you can list in the first few instances? Is this true even if you have a long history on Ebay as  a PS (or not as the case may be).

listing limits only apply to new sellers be they Auction or Store sellers.

I don't think stores get as much exposure - and since auctions in certain categories are now counted under best match and therefore appearing higgledy piggledy  (rather than defaulting to time ending soonest in the best match option as they used to), you can't be guaranteed of getting exposure through an auction anymore - unless you start at a very low price.  The auction/best match formula has been coming and going but it will be here to stay soon, the same as in the US.

Also, once you have a store, everything and anything you list will be put in the store - so if you have a high valued item you sell you will be charged a much higher FVF and this needs to be taken into account.

When I've done the math a store doesn't work out well for me, it would increase my expenses rather than reduce them - although if I did have one I'd be tempted to list lots of small cr*p I don't bother with now (because of the lower listing fees).  Whether that would make one pay off is a gamble and I'm too lazy to bother.

How's that? Standard FVF is 7.9%; store FVF is 7%. Unless you're talking about media.
