Error: - Buyers love large photos that clearly show the item, so please upload high-resolution photo

Hi

I am righteously peeved right now

I carry an inventory of about 4000 items and use turbo lister on a daily basis

I take high resolution photos.

Now I am receiveing the following error when I want to relist ended items

"Error: - Buyers love large photos that clearly show the item, so please upload high-resolution photos that are at least 500 pixels on the longest side."

Since this error applies to approximately half of my listings it means I am now faced with the task of taking and uploading 2000 photos!

And if that wasnt bad enough, I suspect it was turbo lister which reduced the size of my photos in the first place!

Surely there is a workaround for this, or ebay could just allow items which dont meet their ridiculous new standards to at least be re;listed until sold.

I just dont have the time to take 2000 new photos.

That is a great idea!

I wish I had such a system. I do keep copies of the photos, but it seems now i have milions of them and no way of finding the ones i need 😞

My system kind of works like this and you are welcome to copy it.

For inventory photos (keeping in mind I sell ribbon mostly). Each kind of product has a code - Satin = S, Grosgrain = GG, Organza - O, Velvet = V etc. Then comes the size in width for Example Satin in 16mm width = S16. Then add the colour so Satin in 16mm wide in colour red looks like: S16red - Very easy and quick.

Where variant listings are involved and the main pic is a combination photo (done in photoshop) the file name will be something like this: S16reds composite - indicating that the picture is a main picture for my red ribbons that are 16mm wide.

For other filing I use the date as the main search criteria - so if the photograph was taken today the first file code would be: 140120, ie year followed by month, followed by day - that way most computers will open your files in date order from first to most recent. Then I just add a small description of what the folder/file contains for example: 141020 holiday pics.

There are of course many different methods, it is just a matter of working something out for yourself that will work for now and into the future.

it really is infuritaing

i mean, i have a swag of new cds for which there are plenty of 500 x 500 stock images on the net, which seems to be plenty for most commercial sites

So why not ebay?

500 x 500 IS the new required minimum on eBay. I don't understand the question.

Then perhaps you need to read the question again.

My point is this. I have always uploaded hi-res images.

At some point ebay began scaling them down to 300 x 300 or whatever.

Now ebay demands that my pictures be bigger and wont let me relist about 2000 items until I provide new photos.

This translates to HOURS OF WORK which I have already done!

On average 2 hours a day until the completion of the 30 days cycle when all listings will again be up to date and policy compliant.

HOW IS THIS FAIR?

well, it's taken me a lot of years to work this out, but sometiomes, life isn't fair. But what can ya do besides just get up and make sure ya boots are on the correct feet and face life's challenges head on, eh?

apart from that, eBay have been telling us about this for a fair few months, so it's not like they sprung it on us or nuffin.

And the policies are the same now as they were SEVEN years ago? 1600 pixels on the longest side, btw. If you can't take pictures at that resolution, you need a new camera/scanner.

I certainly won't be looking for you on FB, so your advertising might not be productive.

What a crock. You haven't sold anything here for over a year. Definitely advertising.
