Why am I getting bills form ebay that are unsubstantiated and I cannot reply and complain? My last bill of fees is $50.54 from gross sales of $201.57. But if I add all the fees from my sales page it only comes to $11.47. why so big difference and why is ebay not explaining what i am paying for? if I go to a shop and buy things my invoice lists all things i have bought that add to the total sum, but not in ebay billing... why not. Quite frankly 25% fee for all sales is a rip iff, I am thinking of chukking the whole ebay business. I operate on a very thin margin already but I get the feeling that I am only making the fat ebay bossess rich.

I know what you are saying joethenuts, that coin was one of my tries to see what interest it has and as we can see, there is not much so I won't be selling another one like that.
selling circulated coins is a bit unknown venture, the price is what anyone is prepared to pay for it, although the coin (and others) are listed as circulated but they are in excellent condition and worth part of a circulated collection. I too have collected coins for decades and just went through a box fiull of coins that I have been putting aside for a good 20-30years. some sell at no profit some sell at good profit, I look at it as a learning experience and a total return rather than individual item. I just did not want to put such a good specimens into general circulation.
And as was pointed out, I was complaing about the listing fees, so I have learned new things thanks to all contibutors, but sometimes slightly off comments do bring new ideas into the discussion.

I do have a clue actually. I have been collecting coins for over 50 years as well as inheriting collections from my grandmother and mother. I specialise in pre-decimal silver as well as gold sovereigns and half sovereigns. I rarely bother with the new rubbish that is in general circulation.

oh well you have more experience than me but this post was about helping this seller with her fees and all i said was its better to put them on a bin price because she wil loose money after paying for an auction and i did read the item as a circulation 2001 coin which even you would agree is worth $2

No matter what you or I think the coin is worth, someone was prepared to pay $2.50 for it for whatever reason.
I see things listed on ebay that I would not give houseroom to, but they are selling so someone must want them.

I agree 500%. I have seen current circulated coins sell for well over face value. People buy them for all kinds of reasons. Mum used to collect a set of coins from every year since '66. She would just look in her purse to try and find the missing ones. They were all circulated, but that's just what she liked to do.
Plus, they are something that can attract attention. If people see them in their search, they might click on the sellers other items to see what they have available and possibly buy something else.
A few months back, I saw a current $100 note sell for nearly $300. Also a few months back, I pulled $200 out of an ATM in $20 notes. 5 of those notes were crisp and in sequence. I put those 5 in my safe with my ever growing coin collection. At the moment they are only worth face value, but I know in years to come, having 5 running numbers will increase their value.
