I understand that if you make your feedback private then you cannot sell.
I checked a seller's feedback before purchasing and the feedback is private.
How can they have items listed for sale and remain private?

do you mean that you can't see the dots and comments, or just that "view item" is either no longer there or that bit has "private" written there?

Feedback isn't private but you can have a private listing so I don't know where you got your information from?

Hi, Thanks for your reply.
I can read the feedback comment but below that is blank with 2 dashes - I cannot see what the item was or the price. Some entries have "private", but others have nothing.

oh, that's eBay's new privacy initiative, I'd say. There's been a few comments around the boards about it.
but some listings have always been (private) but the actual feedback has always been on show.
So, it's not that the actual feedback is private, that's still all there, you just can't see what item the feedback is for.
You were right, you can't sell if your feedback is set to private. If that happens, you can't see the comments at all, though from memory you can still see any DSR's that may have been there before the account was switched to private.
