Does anyone else feel that the buyer's feedback should come before the sellers feed back. I have never received negative feedback but I always feel awkward about leaving feedback before knowing that the buyer is happy with their purchase. To me the transaction is not complete for the seller until this point and therefore feedback is premature.Things could quickly go pearshaped if there is an unscruplous buyer at the other end and you can't retract your positive feedback.

I have never looked at ebay discussions boards before so was not away this topic has been rehashed over and over again. Clearly the people who make the decisions at ebay don't read them either or they may have made the appropriate changes to fix the issue by now. Clearly this was a waste of time.

there is no issue to 'fix' each ebayer has a different way of doing things, and as ebay has set the fb process as a voluntary thing, where neither the buyer nor the seller needs to leave fb, what's to 'fix'?

I can't see what the problem is.
If you don't want to give feedback first, then don't. Wait for your buyer to leave it leave it first; and if they don't you dont.. End of story - what's to argue about?.

To be honest the feedback doesnโt mean that much as far as a buyer goes.
It does give a nice fuzzy feeling for someone to say how easy a transaction was but the real significance is for the seller it will give an idea as to whether they would be better blocking a buyer rather than trying to gaining future business from them.
For example: If I had quite a few negs or neutral FB from sellers, whoever I buy from next may decide to bbl. me rather than putting me on a mailing list.
I do think Buyers should have a bit of a star system or rating for sellers so they can get a better idea of the honesty of the buyer they are dealing with.
I also think it is VERY important for buyers to give sellers prompt feedback as soon as they can, and do whatever they can to resolve issues without malice as this is what the seller relies on to get a great reputation.
The feedback should never be made with emotions but always be factual and honest.
Given that sellers can't leave anything but positive feedback, how would you get negs or neutrals?

I figgure a nutral is just as bad as a neg but yea i got carried away there.... Point remains the same.
buyer = who cares
seller= who sucessful their business is

A neutral is not as bad as a neg.. A neg actually takes away points from the seller, but a neutral is just that.. Doesn't do anything good or bad but leaves the feedback number the same as it was..
Also, as dave has pointed out sellers can't leave negs or neutrals anyway

OP says " Clearly this was a waste of time. " That's right - any thread about feedback is.
G'day Patch !

Personally I do - for me it shows I respect the customer & value them. Sure I have been burnt maybe 2-3 times by dishonest buyers that have left neutral or negative feedback after I know the item was sent in as described condition & the buyer would then lie in feedback. For me I believe for those 97% of customers that are honest appreciate getting feeding as soon as they have made payment.
