I recently sold an item which was paid for but then the buyer requested to cancel the sale. I was happy to refund his money.
My problem is that ebay will not allow me to enter feedback for this transaction but at the same time keep asking me for feedback.
What is going on with ebay ?

ebay see the purchase as cancelled
But why would you want to leave feedback for the buyer for stuffing you around.
You can not say anything negative or ebay will remove the feedback if the buyer requests it and you then get a black mark for a false positive.
Just forget it and move on I am afraid.
And as for ebay contradicting them self That is normal

"...the buyer requested to cancel the sale..." Remember when that never happened? When sales were final?
Y'know, the whole "you are agreeing to and entering into a legally binding contract to purchase the item from the seller" bit?

Buyers and sellers have always been able to request a cancellation, it was just that ebay did not trumpet the information loud and long. If a buyer does request a cancellation there is nothing to stop a seller from waiting the 4 days and opening an unpaid item dispute which is what many sellers do as a matter of course now.
It says in this book I am reading that by 2065 80% of women will be overweight.
See what a trendsetter I am?
