Forced to Set Buy It Now Price 30% Above Auction Start Price

I have a screenshot of eBay stopping me from relisting my items until I increase my Buy It Now Price to a set 30% above my normal auction start price. I have reported this to the ACCC. I feel like I am being blackmailed into collusion, predatory pricing and price fixing. My auction start price is already set as low as possible so now eBay is forcing me to rip off buyers by setting the Buy It Now price way above what I would normally charge. This needs to go on FB too. How many eBay sellers are now being forced to rip off their buyers??? I guess everyone doesn't bother with auctions any more? I guess eBay needs to lift their bottom line with everything sold at a premium retail type price? No announcement, no readily available information about this on their fee table. Something sure ain't right any more about this place, that I do know.

well here is a novel idea, sell item with auction start price you want and also list the item as a BIN that you want, 2 separate auctions just like the Chinese list both auction and BIN items.

brilliant solution Hawkie!!

I have noticed they also do some listings with free postage and some with fixed price postage. covers more buyer searches two bob each way.

Only works where a seller has more than one item.

A seller could set up two selling accounts and it will be easy to gauge what works best. 😉

make selling more difficult!!!!

Why is 30% too much on items below $100?

If I list an item with an auction start of $10 then I would need to set the BIN at $13.

If I start an auction at $1,000 then the BIN would need to be $1,300 so I think the higher the price the worse off the seller will be if forced to use the 30% rule.

Be very careful if listing some with free post and some with postage additional in BIN format

Duplicate Listing Policy

Sellers can't have more than one listing of an identical item listed at the same time. This includes listing an identical item in different categories or listing an identical item using different user IDs.

So today with me having downloaded updates for Turbo Lister I find I am also 'forced' to set my BIN prices 30% higher than starting price.

I am someone who used auction formats for listing as opposed to Fixed Price listings simply because when I did my own 'tests' I found the fixed price listings were not showing up in searches, or near as much as auction format listings. So my reason for using auction formats had nothing to do with me wanting to climb high and have 'better' presence. I just wanted to be seen by someone/anyone, full stop.

Math is not my strongest point so my brain already hurts with the notion of having to figure out all new prices.

simply multiply your auction price by 1.3

Thankyou, I will keep that in mind.

My main issue is that I needed my BIN to be closer to the starting price.

If I want to keep my current (affordable) BIN prices I am going to have to

reduce my starting prices which is really going to hurt especially if I have

to allow for the various fees.

Just when I think I am taking one step forward towards selling on ebay

again, I then take two steps back.

do most sell at the BIN, or the Starting price with one bid, or do you get multiple bids lifting the start price significantly?

if they mostly sell for 1 bid, then just up your BIN prices, and occasionally you may get lucky!!

BIN if tempting enough, or the 1 early bid cancelling out the BIN

I would probably get multiple bids if I started really low but I tend to

have my items at a minimum price I would be happy to receive

I like the potential of a clean quick sale with BIN but concerned

any price increases might be prohibitive now
