"I noticed that yesterday. That's certainly what the attacks on tippy reminded me of."
.. I think tippy used the term "cry me a river" to someone who was obviously in distress and quite a few seem to praise that type of language around here .. that tells me all I need to know about who is who in this zoo ..
"Yet some dont stand up to the strength of a rose - petal."
you definitely failed the smell test ..

At least I'm prepared to offer advice to others on the boards. Unlike some who only seem to post to complain about promos ending, or not getting them.
I certainly don't give much weight to those sorts of posters. I have a cold at the moment, so I almost assuredly will fail a smell test. I don't smell manure, though..
As for the distressed member, basically we are all in the position we were in 12 months ago.
Something tippy, in particular, has been warning about for months. I'd be a bit less than temperate in my responses to those who choose not to anticipate eBay changing the rules, even when warned such changes are always on the cards, then complain about it. After all, eBay constantly change the rules - like offering low FVF unlimited listings every weekend for months. They never used to do that.

I never ever took ebay up on any of their $1 weekend deals as was clear to me that they would bait and switch it out of their cycle when the "time was right" and could see all the problems people were having claiming back fees when ebay didn't honour the deal ..
I think tippy talking so tough and brash doesn't need to have a crew of defenders here speaking on its behalf .. the transgression is clear enough .. perhaps tippy should be apoligising to that person and tempering its language?

Maybe try reading the boards a bit and you'll find the reasoning behind your comments.
The term "cry me a river" type of comment refers to buyers that are always complaining about being hard done
by and they'll try to use their "hard luck" reasoning to try and get things (eg: cheaper, partial refunds or wanting
extra items because they are on a pension, disabled, single parent, etc).
Weird part is that a number of those "buyers" were found to be well off and some even resold the items for
higher prices so wanted something extra for their bottom line.
So when someone comes along with one of those "hard luck" stories a number of people no longer believe them
because they've been proven false in the past.
No one knows anyone else's circumstances and posting about an individuals life on an open forum should
never include any "hard luck" stories as they are not going to be believed as some use it as a tactic to gain
an advantage or sympathy only.

Tippy is a person.....not an "it".
Maybe you should apologise to her.

I have nothing to apologise for. Sadly, the truth hurts some people. People need to unwrap themselves from the cotton wool.
The sad thing is, eBay will introduce a new type of promotion in the next few months. They usually do. Then when that one ends, because they always do, the same people will be here crying about how they are being ripped off and how their world is going to end. Promotions are just that. They aren't a forever thing. If they were, everyone would be getting it and it would be updated in the policies.
Instead, not everyone gets them, no-one knows why, so be grateful if you do get it, but always, always, ALWAYS remember that it can and will end at any time, with no notice. If you choose to treat it as a permanent change, don't come here whinging when it ends.

"I have nothing to apologise for."
.. I am embarrassed for you ..
I imagine you have never ever been wrong about anything tippy .. you lot should really give yourselves a few extra kudos each for wrecking this bulletin board ..

There's nothing stopping OTHER members posting help and advice. Especially those who have been around for years and should have valuable information about how eBay works. I know it doesn't always give the same warm fuzzies as attempted character assassination...

I too don't believe she has anything to apologise for unless that's for being a bit harsh in her answers. It's been pointed out by others here that the promotions are just that "Promotions", and by definition are a temporary thing.
Regarding kudos, it would seem that the members here with opposite ideas to Tippy are quite happy to kudo each other.
"wrecking the buleitin board" ??? It's not a bulletin board - it's a discussion board - and that is what is happening, members are discussing a subject. There's nothing to say a discussion can't have 2 (or more) sides to it, indeed that is what a discussion is all about.
Unfortunately both sides have become heated over the "discussion".
Also if you were a regular contributor here you would know that Tippy has indeed got things wrong in the past and has been upfront about it afterwards.

Facts are just that - FACTS.
Pointing out that promotions are not a right, but a bonus, is just that - a fact.
Pointing out that other members personal issues are not only irrelevant to the discussion boards, but do not make a constructive point in the discussion, is just a fact.
A few of you have castigated (mild word for what I believe you have done) tippy for what you consider to be an attack on another member. But hey - just look at your responses. If ever there was an attack on someone, you thumbs down people have done it - to tippy.
This is a discussion board, not the Roman coliseum.
(And BTW the $1 weekends are finished. Get used to it, and restructure yourselves back to what was always the norm - 40 free per month, occasional BONUS offering)
