Hi, If I ship a fairly small expensive item to Singapore, is there an adequate way to track through it's journey & what's to stop the buyer from saying they did not receive the item?

Regards

Depends on how expensive it is, and how much it weighs.

Both Pack & Track and Registered Post International are options for Singapore, and are the same price up to 500 grams ($18.80). You can send heavier items, but that should give you a rough idea of costs.

Pack & Track has tracking, and if you process it online you woll get proof of shipping, which is very important in the event of a PayPal claim (if you do it over the counter at the PO, you don't get any documents to keep, but online you can save/keep a copy of the shipping label). You don't get a signature of delivery, and you can't add extra cover, though.

Registered Post International doesn't have tracking via AP, but does get a signature on delivery and you do get a lodgement form for proof of shipping. The number may be able to be tracked on a universal tracking site, or the destination country's postal service webiste, and you can also insure the contents for up to $5000.

That's a little difficult for me to say, as it can be easy, but it can also be an almost neverending frustration... Smiley Surprised Smiley LOL

Some people don't find the site very intuitive, others experience compatibiity issues. You're probably better off checking out the site and seeing how easy it is http://auspost.com.au/index.html - you do need a printer to print out the labels, and after that you actually have to take it in to the post office to pay, anyway, but it's the only way to guarantee you get the right documentation for proof of shipping (last time I used it, I did it over the counter at the PO and the staff photocopied the shipping label for me, but sometimes the staff can be a bit hesitant to do things like that).

Registered Post is likely to be much the same as domestic registered, but you will have to do it over the counter, fill out customs forms etc either way.

I ship a lot internationally, last month over 50%

Pack and Track is good but if it is a high value item you can insure, ask at Australia Post and that way you are covered in the event it does go astray or the buyer claims they have not received it.

You are missing a lot of sales if you are not shipping internationally so it is worth considering.

Have you considered asking if the client would pay for FEDEX.

Your items are high end, and I think it would be worth it....for both the seller and the buyer.
