has not been an issue here.    As the stat dec is a powerfull document also it a way for a seller to cover their asses on what in a package.   As for the stat dec to be signed the person has to witness the goods and then watch the item go into packaging before they will sign it.    if item is then touched it fraud.....

also it documented what inside the package...   If it not what is meant to be return you have the buyer with a legal doc and ebay would not be able to refund etc .<<<<< the stat dec is a very powerful tool for this side to.

So you're speculating rather than speaking from experience?

has used this method for years on high priced items in business offline we have never had any issues etc.   is waiting to see what ebay would do if the need arose a buyer would be stupid to even try a scam when a stat dec invouled .   As they could not debate an stat dec that lists a copper coin in the package for example when item meant to be silver etc...

works without fail.  there nothing in the law to stop you from requesting a stat dec but is also a powerfully legal document.   As if you lie on them you can be charged.  Also if someone eg a cop doctor etc signs it they will ask what it for etc.   And here where it a powerfully tool the cops doctor etc will not sign it without a sighting the item and b watching in go into package.<<<<< every powerful tool for a seller to protect against fraud.

I think you are putting too much faith in your Stat Dec.

The witness does not sign to say that they know the statement is true.....they sign to say that they have witnessed the signature of the person making the Declaration.

The witness does not have to see what is being declared.

This is from a JP of 25+ years standing.
