I always assumed it was because sometimes a buyer wants something extra and I find I have to add in the extra price for it into the postage cost to cover it.

With my car posters I am often asked to customise a car on it for a buyer and so I usually tell them it'll be such and such extra, then add it onto the postage with their agreement.

Now I just added 50 cents onto my postage in every case to cover eBay's take from it.

"If any business charges a fee on or for any service, that said business may be held responsible in part or full for any loss or damage that may occur during that service" This was in response to a general question  I put forward to a Legal Practitioner last week.  Ebay was not mentioned in that conversation. Interesting reply though!

Could it be argued that as eBay applies a fee on the postage service provided by the seller of an item, eBay is then partly responsible for the cost of any loss or damage of or to any sold item whilst in the care of Australia Post??

This would of course depend on the seller having packaged the item securely for postage.

Any thoughts?

Hi, could anyone tell me why Ebay charges final value fee on postage?

my question to you is .... is australian post responsible off the lost and do they pay all lost parcels and letters.mmmm

I had a friend send a dvd in the post , it was lost ,did the ap pay him back for the goods or postage [no]

the trouble is if enough rort the system then eveybody pays, as you know the end user pays all the time.

no difference to football ,teams abuse rules , then rules change , people rort the tax ,then laws change.

when interest go down , and if you are lucky and get the full amount ,it takes sometimes a month or so to come in, but when interest rates go up , you get an email that fast its not funny.

in other words you cant win one way or another .

and as the sheep says   it does not matter how a buyer prices there object as long as you add both together price &postage and you are happy ,then thats fine ,at the end of the day the total is going to be the same.  have a nice day
