How abbreviated is the Category INDEX becoming

If I were NEW to ebay I wouldn't have a clue as to where to start searching for anything !!!!

There is next to NO INDEX - next to no Categories in the Search by Category drop down.

For those of you who are familiar with the site it probably isn't too much of a problem but wow, for newbies what a nightmare !!!!
