How can sellers break even with this new charge on postage.?

My articles are very small and low cost from $1.00 to 7-8 for the most part. I was offering postage of $1.20 covering several articles. No, however, in order to break even I will have no choice but to add postage costs to the article itself if I am to offer free postage. E'bay says this is what people want, but I cannot see that my customers would prefer this as they will be paying more in the long run and the only ones to win will be E'bay?

What do other sellers of small articles think on this, as I am really now considering leaving E'bay.

It is a myth (put out by eBay) that buyers prefer 'free' post.

The push by eBay to 'free post' has only ever been to ensure that when the new policy on the 6th May is implemented, sellers won't be able to get out of paying that additional (up to 9.9%) FVF - because they have already locked themselves in.

A smart seller will revert to postage added, so they are not deemed to be ripping their buyers off.

And I personally believe those sellers will end up making more sales because they are honest with their buyers - what's that saying again - it's a TRUST thing!!  Most important in any trading area.

I would like to know the outcome of that, twyngwyn.

I have some items as low as $2.95 but due to the thickness they have to go at parcel rate ... having to add 70c to the cost of the item is ridiculous ... but there's no point in listing if I have to wear the cost.

This is just my experience and I am beyong a small fish..

without all the small fish, eBay wouldn't have a very big pond now,  would they ?

Maybe time they start thinking about the small fish, rather than the (chinese) sharks that end up destroying everything.

But there is little money to be made from loyalty I guess.

That is pretty much all the sellers can do, give it a go and see how it pans out.

Would be nice though, if you could rely on the company that you pay the fee's to could back you up, support you - jusy\ty once - wouldn't it?

Don't hold your breath on that one!

For some reason eBay are for the buyers, which is silly, no sellers NO buyers.

Yes it would be nice wouldn't it?

If eBay did help us, they will offset whinge complaints from big companies and they will threaten to leave eBay if nothing is done to dispose of us..

Its the same with Appe and its app store.. they only want to make it pleasing to the consumers using the apps. and the indie devs gets screwed over the most with search rank that will only make the rich get richer...

But who am I to whinge about?

They have all the resource, data and they know the statistics to the website. So they probably know that eBay being biased towards buyer is a better thing than sellers..

You say No sellers, No buyers... which is true.. yet I still see sellers on eBay
