Just wondering how everyone is going managing their defects. Has it been an improvement or the pits since the new requirements came into effect?

No recent ones only previous carry overs. kept handling at one day but have 90% of parcels handed over counter for lodgemnet scan now. PO allows me to drop and go rather than queue for a receipt. So some added inconvience, but buyers now get full tracking 90% of the time. Which I guess is what Ebay are pushing for.
In reality it means buyers items are shipped next day instead of next post.

Wish I hadn't seen this post Thought I was doing okay, usually just check the stars and all 5s, so all good.
But no - I find I have 2 defects for delayed delivery.
One initiated by the carrier - carrier reports late delivery - what's with that? Australia Post self-reports their slow delivery and I get a defect? That was for WA - where I made the mistake of just putting in the red box - even tho I had an ebay postage label - there seems to be no scanning whatsoever, and the parce took from 28 Nov to 16 Jan to arrive. !!!
The other was reported by the buyer - CANADA of course, posted 10 March - ebay estimated 4 April - arrived 12 April.
So all I can do now, is follow others and block Canada. No point in trying to reason with the buyer when I didn't even know it hadn't arrived - hate buyers who leave defects without emailing you first.
Just keep muddling along I guess.

Only 1 defect so far on late shipment in October 2015, but I've since added on to my listings that I live in rural Australia, so the timing eBay provides is inaccurate. All my listings tell buyers to wait between 5 - 10 workings days and to make it simplistic for them to add 2 weeks from the date they've purchased.
Handling time listed is 1 business day, although most gets sent on the same day if it's before 2pm.

you should increase your posting time to 3 days. but still mail as you have been. gives you a little more wriggle room.

does that then take away the Get It Fast option and Premium Service? I could be wrong, but I thought it does.

"Carrier reported late delivery" simply means the tracking showed the item arrived after eBay's estimated delivery date and there was no tracking event showing for lodgement within your handling time.
"Buyer reported late delivery" simply means the buyer ticked no to the question "did the item arrive before....".
Neither inolves any malicious intent on the part of carrier or buyer. The carrier is not actually involved at all, it's just the tracking on their site that is referenced. The buyer simply gave a truthful answer, no blame should be applied to them for that, honest buyers should be valued.

Yes it does.
We pushed our handling time out to 3-days to combat these silly ebay estimates.
So far its working and we have not been able to notice and lack of sales due to doing this and the loss of the little badges.
We are getting far more feedback comments now that compliment us on our fast shipping because things are arriving before the ebay estimates.
So based on that my advice would be to go out to 3-days handling time.

Might have to weigh those options out for us, as we've got a strong competitor (lol, I'm sure many others do as well), not sure if we should remove those features or not. I do appreciate the advice and heads up!

But this is my point - there was no tracking at all. So why does the automated thingy decide it was late?

Wait - hold the bus - Australia Post have provided me with an email with validated tracking.
Good news, right?
No, because it was more than 90 days ago - ebay advises that you must appeal a defect within 90 days.
Oh well.
Just a heads up for everyone to keep an eye on this seller dashboard defect thing - they can sneak up on you.
