How would you proceed with this refund

Hi All, I am after a little bit of advice or a shoulder to cry on.

Received a dress back in the mail today that the buyer wants a refund for, Buyer states the care label on the dress is curled up which to her is an indication dress has been worn. I politly explained that I washed the dress before sending as it has been in my wardrobe for a little while.

The dress is new, never been worn, is in perfect condition with no signs of wear at all....only a curled up tag.  Im thinking maybe it didnt fit her. I find it very unfair I have to refund the dress & both way postage amount.

I cant afford another red dot as have already received 2 undue negs in last few days....guess I have no choice except to bow down to another buyer & refund her full amount. GGGGRRRRR

What would you do ?

its depend how long she have dress, also, who cares about care label which no one can see????also if you wash only one time the print on care label will be visible,i wash before for costumer, because items for sale its all in boxes and bags, but not all happy,so don't wash next time, she maybe only change her mind,if you have no refund policy so its no refund, but if you do refund you should write buyers pay post back, and no refund if she change her mind, also its look like you long time on ebay, don't you know how some costumers can be? put tail up all will be good))))

Yoda,just re the neg for no belt-I can see a black tie belt around waistline of dress.Sorry :8}

And its impossible to see her feedback as its Private.

Re the Portmans dress-why not give a friendly call to buyer & see if you can work that one out.

Re the current dress problem-sigh.Some buyers will expect brand new without tags to have not even been washed.JMO but I'd wait for her response & MAYBE refund her original cost including postage but NOT return postage.I think thats fair but thats me lol

As you said, you need to bite the bullet on this one. Don't line yourself up for another neg. A gentle suggestion, try to calm down before you reply to neg's left. Sometimes an angry remark in response speaks more for the seller than the buyer. Try to give it a day or two and then leave a calm factual reply.

I agree with foxy in part, but I would refund in full, like I said, don't go looking for a neg. The biggest problem is, once you have one or two red dots, a buyer knows you will most likely jump through hoops to avoid another.

If you refund postage both ways, it's tantamount to an admission the dress wasn't as described...yet if you don't, it leaves you open for a neg.

I'd be inclined to risk the neg and hope to get it removed by one means or another, but that's just me. I'd message them and tell them that the dress is exactly as described, whether they believe it or not, and that in those circumstances my policy is strictly refund of purchase price only (which is clearly stated on my listings).

Re the neg about the dress and belt - that's an elasticised waistband that's a part of the dress, not a belt. You'd think the buyer would have figured out that's what they thought was a belt when they received the dress. (I only know because the issue was brought up in the forum previously).

Hi foxette, the neg for the dress without belt---there is definately no belt in the picture, what you can see & the buyer knows this is an attached bow tie detail on the dress, my original post about that was removed...still dont know why but that buyer has left 52 negs & 19 grey dots in a matter of months.

Do a search on the buyers purchases then click on the sellers ID and look for any with negs or neuts, click on that and you can see the FB she has left a lot of sellers.

Did you mention that the dress had been washed in the listing?

If not, then it is not as described because "new" means unworn and unwashed.

If you stated in the listing that it had been washed, then I would refund purchase price only. If you didn't then a full refund with both lots of postage is in order IMO
