Ebay charged me three times for the sale of a motor vehicle. I have been in contact with them on several occasions and advised them concerning the matter but nothing happens. The situation arose when I advertised an old vehicle which was part of an estate. I described the vehicle as best as possible and included photos. I received a positive response and then advised Ebay of a sale. When the buyer came to buy he pointed out that I had made a slight error in the description of the model of the car and it was therefore no use to him. So I cancelled the sale. I then sold to another person who came to inspect the car bur decided the panel damage was worse than was shown in the photos and description so I once again cancelled the sale.
I eventually sold the car and advise Ebay of the sale. I then ascertained that I had been billed for each sale. I requested a refund and was promised they would look into it but to date nothing has occurred. This matter has now gone on for more than 12 months. The moral of the story is do not trust Ebay and I certainly will not be doing any further business with them.

When you say "cancelled" the sale, what exactly did you do?
If you used the transaction cancellation process then the buyer needs to accept/agree to that.
Once they do that then you should have received a message from ebay saying that the transaction had been cancelled and that your Final value Fees (FVF) had been refunded. You will not get back your insertion fees by the way no matter if/not the item sells.
If you have these messages present them to ebay.
If the buyer did nothing about the cancellation then after 10-days (I think it is) the transaction should have auto-cancelled as per above.
If the buyer rejected the cancellation request then you may have a problem on your hands. In this case you will have to continue to harass ebay to refund your fees. If they won't play ball you may have to lodge a formal complaint with either the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) or the ACCC giving the details of your case. This should shake them up.
If you used the Unpaid Item Dispte (UID) process then after a total of about 8-days you would have needed to close the case to get back your fees. If you never closed the case then again you may have a problem as above.
If the processes in place are followed correctly you will be credited your FVF's back no worries.
