I always thought that by checking the button that says i get up to 3 free automatic relistings, that they were not taken off your 40 free listings per month.
I accepted the promotion 100 free listings yesterday. Today when i went to relist 100 of my unsold items, there was only 65 left. On further inspection i realized that 35 of my items had finished yesterday and been automatically relisted. They used my free listings.
I have never had this happen before. I didn't realize that checking that automatic relist button could do that.
I contacted ebay and they said it does use up your free listings, so i will be unchecking that button from now on or not accepting any promotions the day before i want to use them.

Eastern Standard Time in winter, ESDT in summer. People in SA can start listing at 11.30 pm the night before because it's already midnight here.

I honestly didn't list anything that could have come off my 100 free promotional listings. it was the auto relists that ended the night of the 10th may. I lost the exact amount that ended and auto relisted.

Yes, you're absolutely correct. That is exactly what is happening. It has NEVER happened before.
A lot of people are going to be very disappointed and if they're not very careful it copuld cost them a lot of money in insertion fees.

If they are still automatically relisting for free, wouldn't they be part of a prior listing anyway? I can't see why it would eat into the 100 free listings if something still had 1 or 2 free relists left, for example an item being originally listed in late May or early June.

I totally agree, but unfortunately they are being deducted from the 100.

Well yes, I now have 99 left despite my account being idle overnight; an auction for a $5 game relisted itself automatically.
What's the odds that when every item's original 3 free relists runs out in the next week or two I will have to eat into the 40 anyway in order to manually relist everything to get 3 more free relists. In any case, the 100 free listings this month really was pointless unless you hardly ever sell anything; it's now a matter of luck if one item genuinely runs out of free listings during the 100 week, otherwise everything else drains them and then run out a week or two down the track anyway.
I don't justify having a store account when I'm lucky to shift ten things per month. Some of my cheaper items have been sitting there 2013. I listed a brand new SATA cable over a year ago - with the photo dated 6/6/14 - guess what sold 24/5/15!

These sort of issues keep people employed, someone stuffs up the backend of the system and another one comes along and fixes it.
Reminds me of a Get Smart episode where they had a painting crew, one was assigned to paint "wet paint" signs, another went around if the wet paint signs where not dry he had to paint "wet paint" signs for the "wet paint" signs.

My freebies are now down to 92, yet I still haven't listed a thing. At this rate, I will be lucky to relist a dozen things this week (automatically, of course) and then I will be stuck with over 50 that will have run out of free relists, and that's not even counting anything new that I list. The day the 3 free relists start eating into the 40 listings, or if/when the 40 itself disappears, I'm well and truly out of here as far as my selling account goes.
