I think a buyer is trying to scam me....

Hi all,

I recently sold a bundled communcations/tablet package on here. It had very VERY minimal use, and we double checked the items from the package booklet included to make sure we had put everything in before posting (not a hard task, as it had all been sitting together since opening).

Today I got an email saying they'd received the package but one of the main items was missing, an item which is also essential for the bundle to work.....there is absolutely no doubt in my mind that the buyer is being untruthful, we would never have missed such an important piece of the package and, as mentioned, we checked everything twice before posting.

What can I do....I am no doubt about to have a dispute opened against me 😞

Welcome to the new and improved ebay policy where the buyer can now scam the seller, goodluck but I think you will need to send another one.

I dunno if its much use to you now, but when i was selling i would take photos of all stages of packing on one phone and video it all on another, even going to the extent of it being put in mail bag, that way if anyone claimed to not get item or whatever i can email my proof.

If it's seriously come to that I will be quitting eBay.

Basically, you are really in the same boat as the buyer, you can prove postage, but you can't prove exactly what was in the parcel, on the other hand, neither can the buyer.

As far as I am concerned the onus is on both of you, and without proof definitive either way paypal may need to cover any discrepancy - so

this is something I would fight to the death over with paypal.

From the sound of your OP, this is a one off sale, and you may not have the missing part, so contact both eBay and paypal to help in this situation if necessary.

zelly - this has little to do with any new policy - there has always been the chance that a buyer can claim a part missing from a parcel.

I was just thinking the same, how can he prove the part is missing....I know I can't physically prove I put it in (which I did), however it's his word against mine....I'll conact eBay now and see what they say, thank you!

If that part is essential for all T-hubs then there is the possibility that they broke the essential part on theirs

maybe so will claim that yours wasn't included.

You'll just have to see how they want to deal with it but a partial refund might be an option.
