I tried to end an item early but could not even though it had more then 12 hours to run . I have had to do this before . I have a pawn shop and this happens not unfrequently often because owners of items redeem them at the last minute . I have not had trouble doing this before . Am I doing something wrong or has eBay changed its policy to make this difficult for sellers to withdraw items ?

The OP asked a question about why they could not end an auction early when it had more than 12 hours to go.
IMO asking a question on the boards, does not give any poster some inherent right to interrogate another nor make baseless accusations against their trading practices.
OP I don't know why you could not end an auction early if it had more than 12 hours to go - the only thing I can think of, is that if it had bids, they need to be cancelled in a seperate process, before you can end an auction, which you seem likely to be aware of anyway.
The site help map does not give any information that I can see, that says anything relevant in your situation - the info all references changes that can not be made to an auction finishing with 12 hours or less.
(from site map) Timing Matters
When there are 12 hours or less remaining and the item has a winning bid, including a reserve met bid, sellers cannot make any changes to the listing, including:
Ending the item early. Sellers may cancel bids, but not end the item unless the item is being sold to the high bidder.
Adding to or changing the item description.

I beg to differ. Had the OP been up-front and provided a little more detail with his question, there wouldn't have been any need to "interrogate" him any further about what he wanted to do. After all, his question was hardly very specific, was it? He simply asked "Am I doing something wrong?" without explaining exactly what it was he was doing, and to the best of my knowledge none of us here are mindreaders.
I also don't recall noticing any "baseless acusations" being made against his trading practises either, although I do agree there was a general feeling that certain relevant aspects were being withheld, but I certainly can't help it if others draw their own implications, particularly in light of the OP's overly defensive attitude, which IMO spoke volumes as to his veracity, particularly when the relevant Sections of the Act were displayed above.

The OP clarified all he needed to IMO.
The thread has been stripped.
Why anyone would expect a trader to explain anything to private id posters on the internet I do not know.
