Im pretty sure that is a big no no. You may need to look at  paypals policies as they really frown on that one. ๐Ÿ™‚

Hi i have just looked at your items and they are quite large. Didn't check if they were pick up only. With pick up you can state cash on pick up or money order only.  I wouldn't be letting a buyer pay by paypal due to the fact that they are picking it up and you wouldn't have any tracking details or paper work if they started an item not received case. You would end up with no item and no money. Im still learning all the rules so if im wrong im sure a more experienced seller/buyer will tell you i am. I hope this helps in the meantime ๐Ÿ™‚

No, you can not charge a fee to cover fees resulting from payment method chosen by buyer.

The following is a cut and paste from eBay site map - regarding payment surchages - my bolding:

Sellers may not charge eBay buyers an additional fee for their use of ordinary forms of payment, including acceptance of cheques, money orders, electronic transfers or credit cards or PayPal fees. Such costs should be built into the price of the item.

Violations of this policy may result in a range of actions, including:

  • Listing cancellation

  • Limits on account privileges

  • Account suspension

  • Forfeit of eBay fees on cancelled listings

  • Loss of PowerSeller status

This is not correct.

An eBay safe payment method which includes paypal, paymate, merchant credit card etc must be offered for most ebay lisings including pick up items.

There a few exclusions to this including cars.

There is no way around it, you should not state cash on pick up only in your listing (unless it is one of the few items in exempt category) - if you do, you risk your listing being removed and policy violations against your account.

Thank you thecatspjs. I think i had better go back and read it again. I have been reading the policies for days. But obviously not enough. ๐Ÿ™‚

Very understandable misunderstanding Smiley Wink

There are a number of long-time regular board posters who, up until very recently, were advising that cash on pick up only was ok and/or  ways to avoid safe payment methods on listings (including refunding paypal payments Cat Sad) to all and sundry on the boards and in the answer centre.  Fingers crossed they now understand that their previous advice was incorrect.

As others have said...No.

You can include the fees in your price...You cannot say it though...So you can do it, you just are not allowed to say you doing ๐Ÿ™‚

Just put the words "no paypal" in your item description and then click continue. You will then see a warning message telling you that you are NOT permitted to refuse payment via any method you offer. Some form of credit card option is compulsory, Paypal or Paymate are the two main ones.

All listings must have a credit card option. In your case you seem to have chosen Paypal. Regardless of pick-up or post you cannot refuse payment via Paypal.

A friend of mine that lives about 2 streets away, sold a large item on eBay a few months ago. She accepted a "best offer" price lower than what she really wanted on the condition that the buyer pay cash at pick-up. When the buyer turned up, she asked for the cash. He took his mobile phone out of his pocket and tapped the screen a few times and said "there you go I have paid you" - Paypal.

I just thought I'd add that you can say cash on pick-up is preferred.

(PS cats, while on the subject of pick-up, while I do recognise and agree that if offering PayPal or other electronic methods it should be accepted at any time, I noticed the other day that the 'Pay on pick-up' option as selected by the seller is displayed as Cash on pick-up in listings. It changes nothing, really, just thought I'd mention it...on the off-chance it was of interest th_wink.gif )

incorrect this way up, you must have a safe payment option, no mention of credit card, as paypal or paymate can be funded from your bank account or vise card.
