Once the sale of an item is made, but then the money is given back post sale. Can the invoice for this item be cancelled by ebay

you could try asking your buyer if they would agree to a mutual cancellation. If they agree, you're in luck. If not, you will be accoutable for the FVF on that transaction.

Both of you will still be able to leave feedback.
