Item Description Issue, Return Policy Violation, Negative Feedback

Hi, Just want to share this selling experience. It's bothering me and losing few night sleep lately.


Below are sequence of events...


1) Buyer notified me that item been received, happy with the condition but testing functionality.


2) Couple of days, notified me has problem not working as described and sending it to third party  repairer/inspection.


3) I asked the buyer not to do that, but send back to me without touching it, I'll give full refund.


4) Buyer didn't send back the watch to me, still he said sent it to the third party for repair/inspection.


5) A week later the buyer came back, telling me the watch is not cleaned or working as described. Left negative feedback.


6) I asked the buyer again anything I can do to satisfy him, to return the watch to me and I'll give full refund. Never heard from him yet.


 


In my view, the buyer is abusing buyer's protection regards description. And, violated my "Return Policy".


 


What have I've done wrong? Anyone who have similar experience?


 


Your advice would be appreciated.

Hi, my advice really is to not worry about it. Every now and then you have to "wear" a neg. I know it's hard, but as an ebay seller you need to try to not get hung up on feedback issues. Your other feedback is great and I can't see this one affecting your business. I know it hurts when they say stuff that isn't true, and it can really gnaw away at you. Remember that they are the one with the problem. You have done nothing wrong (from your description of what happened). It sounds like they have handled it all wrong so they are the one who needs to sit back and take a good look at themselves.

From a buyers point of view I find it really frustrating when a seller sends an item that doesn't work or is the wrong item. I understand that sometimes these things happen but I don't agree with ebays policy of returns for those reasons being at the buyers expensive. I would say that is why they didn't bother to send back to you.


Maybe it would be an idea to check the watches before you send them out.

Sometimes item may have a fault, but they still want the item, but are just peeved they have to go through effort to fix it.


 


Truth is once an item is received either late, not as described, or not at all then it is no longer a positive buying experience, and seller is in damage control from that moment on.

Once somebody buys something it is theirs to do as they wish with; there is no such a thing as "Return Policy Violation" by the buyer.  You cannot dictate them what to do with the item; you can offer a refund for a return, but it is up to them if they accept or not.  As said above, once they get an item and it is not as good as they expected, all you can do is to work out how to make the transaction not so negative for them.

Wear your neg with pride in the knowledge that the buyer has just made themselves look like a complete numpty. If they are going to insult you in capitals they should at least check that they know how to spell ๐Ÿ˜‰

@belindabargainhunter - the watch was working and been tested. Only after couple of days later,  I was told that's it is not working. For this kind of item (a watch), someone touch or open it could create more damage or could even replace the movement with faaulty one. That's the reason why it should be sent back original as possible to the seller. BTW, I also offered return shipping cost at my expense.
