Little Aus Post rant

I got an order in Saturday evening and it was to a parcel locker in a location pretty near to me so rather than doing my morning post at my local post office I jumped on a bus and went to the PO where the parcel locker is. I asked if it would be put in the locker which was about 15 feet away from where was was and they said no it would have to go to the sorting office first. So rather than the buyer being able to collect the item they bought today they will at best get it tomorrow. if it does not get heldup in underwood for days which happens to often.

I am not familiar with  Auspostprocedures so I may have this wrong, but resumably when the package  gets back to the post office it will be checked as 'received' and when it goes into the PO box it will be checked as delivere;. so how does sending it on a little side tri to the sorting office add anything - other than time - to the equation?

So the, " plenty of parcels" has now become, " my parcels" and with tracking - this makes your rant all the more stupid - Your rant was intended to find some sympathy for not being able to get your own way, bad luck all round I would say.

Of course I am talking about MY parcels serious are you drunk? Sympathy are you serious? what has it got to do with me? my job is over it makes no difference to me it is about the customer experience. They should of had the parcel today but instead it is in a system that has faults. Serious do not worry about my little rant you go have another drink you are clearly half way there aleady

Clearly it doesn't add anything, and a little side trip keeps more staff employed along the way...so guess it could be thought of as unnecessary (in this instance, at least) but keeping them er busy. Some of my parcels take multiple side trips and pass through the same sorting centre up to three times!

I honestly wouldn't expect anything else from Australia Post. Expect it to be sent to Chullora or Sunshine West (or both) before it reaches its destination!

Would not suprise me I Had forgot about this saw the thread and thought I would check it has not even left the PO yes so still has to be sent to the sorting office so for 24 hours it has been sat 15 away from where it needs to be the buyer can not go into the post office and get it. I do get a feeling this is a package that could go on an amazing journey lol Will it even get to the sorting office tonight if so which one? I just hope it is not Chullora if it is I will just refund the buyer

I sent an item to someone in NSW and it stayed in Chullora for two weeks. One phone call and it was suddenly en route ๐Ÿ™‚

Sunshine West is my sorting centre. Ordinarily if I saw things for me get scanned there, I'd know it was to be delivered the next postie day. Nowadays not quite so simple.

I have had a few stuck in Chullora, got 1 that has been there 6 days currently, I find a heated message on AusPosts FB page tends to get it moving again ๐Ÿ˜‰ Underwood is not great but better than Sunshine West I think only had a few items go through there so far been ok for me. I have noticed the holding time at underwood has increased lately

Some of their tracking is delayed, but even if it isn't THIS delayed, maybe it wasn't scanned at the next stop and is actually in transit.

The person who gave you the advice may have got it wrong.  Maybe they only work on the counter and have no idea what happens out the back.  AP staff would be no different to forum dwellers - some give wrong advice on subjects they know nothing about and then insist they're right.  Smiley Frustrated

That PO may well keep local mail aside and not send it to the sorting centre at all.  Sending everything to the sorting centre would be like my local PO sending mail for local delivery on a 2-hour trip to Geelong to be sorted, only to have it come back the next day - which definitely doesn't happen.  They told me a few years ago that any mail for the next towns south or west get kept in a different bag to be put on the morning truck, but everything else heads to Geelong on the night truck.  Parts of that may have changed last year because the morning and night trucks now come from the same direction, but the fact is that they do sort a lot of mail before it gets to the main sorting centre.  I do acknowledge the fact that their 'improvements' mean they're less efficient than they used to be.  Perhaps that's why they wanted a price rise - so they could afford to be less efficient.
