Smiley Frustrated I recently 'sold' an item but the buyer would not pay. Went through all the correct procedure, followed all the right steps, etc. I was charged the fee (for selling) as it was mid payment cycle. When I queried this with Ebay I was told a credit would be done, and would be seen in the next payment cycle.

But NO - that did NOT happen. it was only after I checked my account THREE months later that I found there had been NO credit.

Sent email to Ebay - and credit was given to me instantly.

Does this mean that credits are only given when we chase them? Or are Ebay working on the assumption we won't check, so they'll hold off until we query it? Either way - not a good practice. They are very quick to charge us fees - they should be just as quick to give us the credits.

So if you have any similar incidents, PLEASE check your account. With the number of non payers at the moment growing at a ridiculous rate - sold 7 items, 4 were non payers - I can't afford to be throwing away fees for no reason. I will check ALL transactions from now.

When you say correct procedure and right steps...

Does this mean you opened and subsequently closed an Unpaid Item Dispute (UID)?

If you did this then that is correct procedure and when the case closes the fees are automatically credited.

At least they are on our account.

Remember that the FVF is charged at the time of the sale before the buyer has paid.

So if they don't pay then to get back your FVF you either open/close a UID case.

Or you put thru a transaction cancellation if the buyer has requested that.

Personally I don't like the cancellation route as it relies on the buyer to approve it.

And if they don't (ie disagree) then you will have trouble getting your fees back.

If they either agree or do nothing you will get your fees back.

But if they do nothing you have to wait 10-days until you can close it and get your fees back.

When I have closed Unpaid Item Disputes recently ( no payment from buyer, after 8 days), the fvf's are credited to my seller account immediately

Correct - I went through the correct UID process. Item was purchased in Nov and the fee was charged to me straight upon purchase. Case was closed mid December. I got the credit back LATE Feb - only after I chased it up.
