My listing dropped in price at the last minute. What's going on?

I'm selling a rare Nintendo SNES console and have had a lot of interest. Yesterday bidding got up to $700 but today suddenly out of 3 bidders and 25 bids between them, all but 1 bid have been canceled and it's back to starting bid of $250. I know it's worth a lot more than this, and now I'm worried other bidders have been put off. Am I being scammed? Should I cancel the auction and start again?

Hi Foxy - I'm wondering of they work together to bump up the price of the item to put other buyers off and then cancel bids at the last minute so one of them gets a bargain after deterring other buyers. 2 of them seem to collect old video game items and cancel their bids fairly often as well.

Agree, report all for invalid bid retractions,  obviously they were testing each other to see how much others were prepared to pay.  or one may have retracted assuming something dodgy was going on when the other bidder retracted.

Your best bet is yes, end it and relist at the price you are happy to accept. and while you are at it,  add each of those time wasters to your blocked bidder list so they can`t mess with your listings again.

The bidder who deleted all his other bids just deleted his last one. The item has now gone form $700 to $0 in a day. Very strange.

hamma, as shy suggested, hover over account tab, select site preferences then scroll to buyer requirements. To the right select show and edit. Then put any blocks you want in place and add these guys to your blocked bidders list at the bottom with the link.

Not sure if there is a direct report link next to the bid retractions as I haven't had any but this link enables you to send an email explaining the report.

I never would have thought of something like this. They should all be reported. What ebay does is anyones guess...

There is a limit to when a buyer can cancel a bid though isn;t there?

A bidder can retract a bid if there are more than 12 hours left or if less than 12 hours the bid needs to be retracted within 1 hour of it being made. And very few reasons are available, so if wrong amount is entered and no new bid is re-entered, they can be reported and sanctioned.
