Hi all,
We're looking for some guidance in regards to handling non paying buyers. To date, we have simply utilized UPI disputes & our blocked buyer list. Lately, our non paying buyer rate has gone up, and we've come across several what appear to be serial non-payers judging by the false positive feedback on their accounts.
Whilst the false positive feedback is helpful to us in the short term, we're not so sure it is helpful in the longer term. I seem to recall reading at one stage that a seller's positive feedback = eBay considers the transaction a success, thus negating the effect of the UPI process.
There seems to be considerable variety of opinion on how to deal with non paying buyers.
Cheers

Leaving false positive feedback is helpful to nobody.
Until the AU shopping cart is fully operatiional all that you can do is go through the UPI process and use your Buyer Requirements to block buyers who have strikes. You only have to check your Buyer Requirement Logs to see that it is blocking some habitual non payer IDs.

There was a furphy created by board members that feedback comments left for a non-payer negate any strike left.
This is untrue. I have confirmed this with ebay on a number of occassions, anyone that has any doubt should ring ebay themselves to clarify. The non-payment resolution and strike system are not linked to feedback comments, in any way.
If you leave a negative comment with a positive for one of these **bleep** policy breachers if the breacher reports it and if the comment is sufficiently negaive to warrant removal you may receive a policy violation.
IMO every seller will come up with their own approach to dealing with non-payers that are in breach of their user agreements with ebay in relation to payment policy as well as not honoring a legal sales contract that you pursue for payment under Australian law.
Whilst ebay chooses to protect the identity of these disrespecful, cost-incurring, policy-breaching, time-wasters I can only thank those that leave comment to alert me as a seller that a buyer may be one of those that fall into the above group.

Ebay claim they are now cracking down on habitual non payers and those who leave an excessive number of negs. We can all live in hope!
Unless you have the time to trawl through the feedback of every single bidder on your items so you can cancel their bids if they have negative comments then they are not going to warn you or anyone else of anything, it will not stop last minute snipers or BIN buyers either.
I have seen no increase in the percentage on non payers compared to back over 5 years ago when sellers could leave negs, in fact the percentage is probably less, I used to get about 1 every six months, I now get 2 or 3 but back then I only sold on 1 id, did not have a store and only sold a fraction of the items I do now.
