Not allowed to leave HONEST feedback for buyers who default - WHY??

I've had more than 2,550 sales and lately I've had a spate of buyers who make no contact after the sale - no payment.

I receive a FVF fee refund but this is not enough - I want justice!!

I see these buyers going on with their 100% rating and their behaviour should at least be visible to sellers.

Why keep them at 100% poistive when they have defaulted????????????

It's just NOT FAIR!!!!

1. ..and if the cost had still been $1.80 to send with bubble wrap on, they likely would have still marked the star down.

2. (i.e. well I would have helped you if you had of done X, but I'm not going to now so there!).

3. The rest of your feedback speaks for itself, so I wouldn't spend too much of my time or energy worrying about this one transaction.

Hi digital*ghost

1. Thanks for your help. The postage would have been $6.60 if I had bubble-wrap on it. That's for sure.. at my PO, anyway.

2. No, it wasn't like that....

3. It's the aggression that concerns me, especially when it could have been sorted out so easily. He was so slow in fulfilling his obligations that I though he must be very layed-back person that wasn't in a hurry. Not true though...

Just regarding pont #2 - I know. 🙂 At least I can gather from your post that wasn't your intention. I just meant that it could have been very easily interpreted that way by someone who may only be viewing things from their point of view.

They aren't able to change the positive, so at this stage I would simply be blocking them from any further purchase (if you haven't already) and moving on.

I think you are right. He didn't see my reasoning. He is my first blocked person. And yes, I will move on 🙂

Just one other thing before I drop this and move on. The buyer has only (6) feedbacks, all from sellers. Pick-up is mentioned often.

If picking up was his intention when buying the $4.96 book why then did he agree to the $6.60 postage - by making the purchase - and why wouldn't he have asked about pick-up before the sale?

I see good pick-up feedback is important to him. To gain the trust in him doing this. Possibly a reason for his frustration (to say the least) on a simple postage matter. I think it odd that someone is buying locally so often on Ebay and by putting himself in a position where picking-up his item is possible.

It may be his way of meeting people.

Moochgraber is correct in saying there needs to be a place where sellers can put a warning to beware of possible buyer problems.

It maybe simply that this person is a pensioner and $6.60 is a lot of money for them, so they buy locally and being new to eBay they do not understand that some sellers are not willing to let them to pick up.  As it is they paid $11.60 for book they could have had fro $5, only to realised it did not cost as much.

Frankly, I think you are being bit OTT trying to find something sinister in what this confused newbie did.

By the way, people do not get "kicked off PP", it is more likely somebody not computer savvy who has not managed to set up their account.

Hi Nova,

Not sure of any point you may be making. As I see it, we must deal with the facts and not make assumptions. That is if the problem is to be viewed clearly.

It wasn't me who said the buyer that we are discussing got kicked off Paypal. He told me that himself. He gave this as the reason why he couldn't pay me for the book by Paypal.

Nova, I honestly don't know how you got that so wrong.

Also there is nothing to suggest he is a newbie on Ebay. On the contrary, my personal experience with him was that he is a confident person who knows what he is doing on Ebay.

My question about the postage is genuine based on facts. My questions are not based on assumptions. Your assumption however, that I am 'trying to find something sinister' is totally untrue and totally unfounded.

Please, lets deal only with facts if you are replying to help find answers to genuine questions.

Hi Nova,

I apologise if I got some facts wrong; but that is what often happens when people start posting their own story in someone else's topic; it becomes confusing.  For some reason I thought there was a mention that he only had 6 FB  and all for pick up, which you thought to be weird .  I only pointed out that somebody who seem to only buy local and picks up is very likely to to do that because he does not nor want to pay for postage, and considering that he got really upset by the inflated postage he paid, that seems to be the case.

I do agree we should deal with facts. The fact is this person wanted to pick up the item, obviously others let him to do so and he thought you will too.  Yes, it was wrong to assume you will allow pick up, but you still charged him several times more than you actually paid to send it.

If he send you abusive eBay messages you can report them.  Luckily he left positive FB,  which as already mentioned above, cannot be changed.  You have blocked him, so end of story.

I am assuming you would be leaving him bad FB if you could.

Actually, I just looked and he does have only 6 FBs, and the items are all big pick up only items.

Hi Nova,

He was charged what would have been the normal postage amount if I had wrapped the book properly by using bubble wrap. It is also the postage amount he agreed to pay. If he wanted a refund he only had to ask. He did not.

No assumptions please about what I would do in feedback...  it's so unfair to make an assumption like that about me.
