Woke this morning to six identical messages from the same Buyer wanting to BIN one of my auction items.
As I was going through the 6 messages and responding I received another 3 of the same message.
Was happy with their offer so changed it to BIN, and advised them I'd done so then nil, nada, nothing.
Now, 9 hours after the fact, I've changed it back to the original format and added to my special list.
Gets one wondering what the alytas was going on!

It is a well known tactic used by sellers of similar items. What they hope you will do is end the item and list it again as a BIN with minimal info so nobody else will be interested. They have then removed the oposition as they have no interest in buying your item, just an increased chance of selling theirs for more.

It is far more likely to be a eBay messaging glitch and the buyers got frustrated thinking their message has not been sent and gone off-line.
I often get two or three identifcal messages from buyers, thinking their messages have not been sent.
The conspiracy theory is interesting, but never experienced it myself. Have not read it on the boards either, though I have read thousands of posts about eBay glitches including with messages.

They wanted to give you the pooze for sure
Some peoples just like to fancy up their bored time doing pointless annoying things to strangers i guess.

I always remain thankful that I just don't get the buyers that others do.
Or might it be that I don't distrust every unusual event that happens on eBay and give buyers the benefit of the doubt based on eBays own dismal performance (and get the sale when I do).
