I have a pair of chainsaw boots for sale. A japanese buyer is interested, but I said I would not post worldwide; it is a near 4 kg satchel. The buyer wants the item mailed to a company in Australia which will take care of transporting it to Japan. Is there a problem for me to enter into the deal, i.e. with Paypal ect.

when someone pays - you post to whatever address is in the paypal email
so I presume he will change his delivery address to the Australian one on payment

Does the delivery address need to be changed within ebay or paypal?

They can either temporarily adjust their primary postage address with ebay, or (even easier) simply click "Pay Now" on eBay and click the link to update / change the address at checkout. Make doubly sure they know to do this, as some people breeze through checkout without thinking then ask to change the delivery address later. It shouldn't be possible if their main address is in Japan and you didn't specify postage to there, but better to be safe than sorry. 😉
As long as you only post to the address that shows in the PayPal payment notification, (and can prove it with acceptable documents etc), there will be no special issues surrounding PayPal seller protection (not due to the buyer's actual location or using an address that's not the same as their primary postage address, I mean).
