It is easy to say do not accept PP on pick up item, but how do you deal with somebody who bought my $300 item that I would normally post (with all the extra insurance and registration) but I do offer the option to pick up. The buyer (living 100km away) wants a cousin to come and get it, but wants to pay by PP. I can see their point of view, much easier the cousin just picking up without having to get cash. But if they decide to claim INR I will have no leg to stand on; even if I have scan of their cousin's license.

super** if they pay CASH directly into your account at any branch of the SAME bank (say you are with ANZ, they just walk into an ANZ bracnch in any state, anywhere with Cash and itis immediatley in your account... immediate... no wait,

Thanks Putney, that is an excellent idea 🙂
Anyway, I will just wait and see what they say; they will probably just send cousin with cash 🙂

If it is not a pick up only item this can be easily avoided by not choosing the pick up option in the delivery methods but do include cash on pick up in the payment methods.
They then only have the option in checkout of paying through Paypal with the postage or selecting cash on pick up.
With your current buyer all you can do if you offered pick up in the delivery options is tell them you will accept Paypal but do they realise they have no buyer protection and it would be much better if their representative paid in cash after a full inspection.
Make sure you get them to sign a receipt to say they have accepted the item and ask for identification to confirm they are the person the buyer has nominated, take note of their rego too in case they do try doing a chargeback then at least you have something for the police to go on.
