So I noticed in our paypal account yesterday that 2 transactions of the exact same amount within 24 hours of each other were charged 2 different fees by Paypal. It was $0.12 difference…. Yeah ok, not worth crying over but I still questioned it. Got a response back from Paypal saying that it was a mistake and the wrong merchant rate had been applied. Difference was reversed. So all good. Not quite…
I checked further transactions last night and found at least 4 instances where the same thing had occurred in the space of 2 weeks. In one case the discrepancy was $1.20 difference in their favour. Not good enough and certainly raises some concerns.
I’m very interested to see if anyone else has had this issue recently. I’m not sure how long this has been going on for but will be looking into it very closely.

Are you taking into account the recent changes in the rate that paypal charges for their services? It was only a small % but it would make a difference.

First 2 Transactions were within 24 hours of each other in the past couple of days so the rate change should have well and truly been taken care of by then.... yes?
Like I said, haven't gone back further than March as of yet and we sell many of the same priced item each month so there still shouldn't be such disparity across 2 weeks of sales.
thanks folks.

You did well, recently on a $274 transaction paypal decided to take $62 from me.
When queried with PP, no apology or response just the full fee refunded so no idea what happened there !

Have you sold anything to overseas because they're 1% higher for paypal fees.
