Pick up via courier

I sold item as pick up only. Buyer has asked that I wrap, weigh everything for a courier? Has also requested that I drop it off to local courier place 20 min drive 1 way. I think it's reasonable I ask for reimbursement of this as have already had to purchase the wrap and tape. What if buyer not willing to pay for this additional work but has already paid for goods via paypal?

Pick up via courier

Let the buyer know that as you advertised it as pickup only, that you have no objection to a courier service, paid for by the buyer, comes to your place to collect it and pack it as well. A service like Pack 'n' Send will do this.

Pick up via courier

I've had this happen.

I stated pick up only.

It was for a small piece of quite delicate furniture that was hard to package.

The buyer was a nutcase who had the attitude of the world owing her.  She arranged things and expected me to jump to it.

I had no time for packaging or for paying for packaging or for waiting around on a Friday night (courier to arrive at 7pm).

I learnt via the horrible experience of dealing with this buyer that.....

You go through Ebay, the cancellation process and offer it to the second highest bidder (a wonderful person so easy to deal with).

I have just written this in relation to another sellers problem but it is the same for your issue.

Because basically....the buyer has not read your ad - pick up only.

As long as you write pick up only and a time frame for pickup you can do the below.

If unpaid - do the unpaid item route.

BUYER HAS PAID BUT NOT PICKED UP

Confirmed the below today with ebay rep over the phone 18/06/14

I will put in my two bob...

Seller has a pick up item to sell.

Seller has specified in the ad very specifically the timeframe of pickup eg within 2 weeks (Seller has to have done this)

Buyer bids and pays - by paypal or bank deposit or even cash.

Seller continues communication with buyer about pickup taking place - buyer may or may not communicate (irrelevant either way)

2 weeks comes and goes with no pickup.

Seller submits a request to cancel transaction with buyer.  Buyer can only agree to cancel. Seller cannot cancel.  Via the cancellation process within Ebay Seller outlines why they wish to cancel and informs the buyer that the 2 weeks are up and that they will be refunded in full.

Seller refunds paypal payment in full to buyer.

Seller relists item on ebay.

Seller blocks the buyer on their blocked buyers list.

Buyer may be angry etc (irrelevant)

Seller then appeals to ebay to have final value fees refunded and have any negative fallout from buyer reversed.

Ebay will in most cases refund the Final Value Fee.

Seller = Time wasted but no money lost and not waiting any further time with messages/phone calls etc and second guessing.

Buyer = probably hasn't learnt a lesson but is unable to affect this seller further.

Keep records of all discussions.

Better to have transactions done via Ebay messaging so it's all there rather than using telephone conversations and texts.  Ebay can see all of this and do take it into account when making decisions.

I have done this and I have done the waiting around, chasing route and the above is better with THOSE buyers.

I think judging each buyer on a case by case basis is good as things do happen but at anytime it's getting too much for the seller the above is always an option to get a resolution happening.

Pick up via courier

I just posted a long reply but failed to add....

Don't do it... for this buyer.

Thankless task you never get the money, time and thanks from the buyer and you feel you have been had, which you have been.

Different if the buyer recognises this and pays for the packaging, your time and travel costs ... v unlikely.

Pick up via courier

Over the years I've encountered a few smaller pick up only items that I have been interested in. I always send the seller a message asking if they would be willing to post and if they are, how much would it cost, INCLUDING costs for packaging. Only once has the seller declined, which is absolutely their right. I'd never buy something and THEN ask them about postage if it was listed as pick up only. That's just plain rude.
