I am having trouble understanding the options for creating a postage policy. I want to post sheet music in a Tough Bag (3) There are so many options available for Australia wide posting. I keep reading through them all but I can't work it out. Can anyone explain the best way for me, in really simple terms?

Surely it would go as a large letter. You need to get one of those card scales thingies from the Post Office. If it fits through the slot, it will go as a large letter. $1.20....although that is due to go up a bit next month. Otherwise use the Click and Send satchels, up to 500g.... $6.95 plus the cost of the plastic sleeve. I'm sure most sheet music would fit in one of those.

Is the sheet music for collectors? If so you might want to consider that tough bags won't prevent an item from being folded, bent or dinged in transit. You might want to consider reinforcing with cardboard or even mailing the items in rigid cardboard mailers that can be purchased in numerous sizes (not sure if I can name any of the ebay sellers with these rigid mailers/hard envelopes). Some of the mailers are flat enough that they would qualify as large letters thus keeping your postage costs down too.

Another option is prepaid envelopes (includes postage and envelope). Some letter guidelines/sizes and envelope prices can be found at the following link:

thanks for your advice. Unfortunately the books are too large to be a large letter size. Haven't got the hang of click and send yet but working on it.

Thanks for your advice. You are right. I need a padded bag for protection.
The books don't qualify as large letters unfortunately

Thanks for your advice. I will look at the pre-paid envelopes
