Re: We’ve added a new ‘Required’ Item Specific in the jewellery category

"As you know, we recently implemented Item Specific requirements in the jewellery category. From 23 August 2022, ‘Metal Purity’ will also become a ‘Required’ Item Specific in this category.

How to update your listings

  1. Click on the ‘Add Items Specifics that will be required soon’ task.
  2. Select the listings you want to edit.
  3. Click ‘Add Items Specifics’ to open your listing tool.
  4. Update your listing information under the ‘Required’ section.
  5. Look for the ‘Required soon’ tag under the ‘Recommended’ section to update listings before the Items Specifics become ‘Required’."

Has anybody actually seen this "Required soon" tag in either Tasks - Seller Hub or on Seller Listings page? Supposedly going "Live" on 23 August but I still only have "Recommended" requirements, and I have many jewellery items without "Metal Purity" in Item Specifics.

Re: We’ve added a new ‘Required’ Item Specific in the jewellery category

When I followed the link from the eBay announcement to “update your listings now”,  the heading for Item Specifics - Required Soon does come up, but it has a zero in brackets.

Most of my listings are jewellery items, and only a couple have Metal Purity included, so I assume eBay has not yet updated these recommendations site-wide.

With my vintage jewellery listings, I have marked the Metal as unknown, so maybe that is why I do not have to specify metal purity. However, there are a couple of new fashion jewellery items with the Metal left blank,  but neither of these have a notice of recommendation required soon.

These specifics requirements may be rolled out in the next several days, who know? In the meantime, it would not hurt to undertake all the updates in your listings.

Thanks for replying. I don't adopt eBay's Recommendations until they are "Required" as most of them have nothing to do with what I am listing and would not add to any person's "Buying Experience".  As everything I sell is Antique / Vintage / Pre-owned a lot of it avoids required fields. It seems silly to have to put "Does Not Apply" in the "Metal" Requirement for a plastic bangle, but if I must, then I must.
