I'm wondering if any sellers can advise me on what I should do here.
I recently sold an item it was paid for by the buyer using Paypal, the item was shipped (without tracking). The buyer has now claimed fraudulant account activity on her Paypal account (re: unauthorised access) and Paypal are asking me to refund her or provide tracking info.
I phoned the buyer this morning and she hung up on me after I said who I was and what its concerning.
I am very well aware that this person has indeed received the item purchased and is claiming unauthorised access through Paypal to keep the item and get the refund.
She is new to eBAy with only 5 feedbacks and joing last month.
I am unable to even open an item dispute to claim unpaid item.
This is totally unexceptable, I can't even leave a neg feedback. I have contacted eBay no results there.
Does anyone have any advise for me? I've been a seller on eBAy for many years and I've never come across this before.

That's really what it boils down to. It's explained on the PayPal website that they offer seller protection when you either ship via a trackable method or ship with a method that obtains a signature on delivery. For the most protection, I recommend the latter.
If any item is not worth the risk of losing the funds (and the item), you should automatically ship it with SOD. If possible, try to factor that in before you list the item so you're covered for the additional cost.
I dare anybody to supply a link to the proof of shipping page as set out be the paypal user agreement that states tracking is neccessary
.... ie to substantiate their information... not a link to their "advice"... a link to the statement redirected from the user agreement that defines what is proof of shipping as I have provided above
It is a board furphy... however carry on regradless... If the op has a correctly dated receipt with the buyers postcode and signs a stat dec stating the address to which they sent the item then the seller protection policy will cover them as they have met the prerequisites

Of course the buyer received the item, that is not under dispute. The card holder has reported the transaction as a fraudulent use of their card ....
PJ, the 'buyer' has left feedback for the OP stating it was a fraudulent transaction, which sounds very suspect to me. I am suspecting buyers remorse.

There's nothing illegal about a friendly social visit. I do it all the time myself. ๐
If you want some real advice, you could try cultivating your sense of humour. ๐
And had you said that in your original post all would be well'. As to a sense of humour, wouldn't it be funny if you copped what you thought you were going to give on one of your friendly visits. :^O

Can you beieve I even got an email from this person telling me OK OK...she will cancel the Paypal dispute and return the item. Unbelievable. I have blocked this person. Thats all I can do.

CQ I like your thinking and its an advantage when a club has chapters in every state where brothers are always wanting to help each other
Thanks Hawk, but despite my original 'suggestion' being very much tongue-in-cheek, you make a very interesting and valid (not to mention extremely scary) point. :^O

There is a different world out there that some move in, and brothers do look after brothers when there are problems. ๐

"Hairy Bikers"!
Don't they make pies or something?
I like pie, ask them to come to my place
Oh, and be sure to tell them Apple & Rhubarb is my favorite

I have had this sort of thing happen uite often. Im afraid there is nothing you can do at all. More and more people have worked out they can rob you in this way and Ebay and Paypal are a law unto themselves. They will never support you in such cases. You just have to accept that every now and then you will get robbed if you sell on Ebay as you can not refuse Paypal. If you view my feedback you will see I received a negative rating because I refunded a paypal payment. The buyer wanted to pay by paypal and then collect an item in person. At $250 I would not accept this as he could just go home and claim non reseipt of the item. Afterall how can you proove postage when the item is collected in person. However despite the fact that Ebay and paypal set these rules they still allow buyers to act as highway robbers and even set in place rules that support them in this regard!

Indeed I have been selling on Ebay for many years and it is set up for buyers to rob us. Many times I have shipped items and buyers claim they never recieved it, so we refund. Now its our policy to 'replace' the 'lost in transit' item by shipping another where possible. So many times we'll get the buyer say "oh no I don't want another one, I want a refund" Of course there's nothing we can do because if we refuse Paypal refund anyway after they open a non-reciept of item claim.
Its very difficult selling this way we just hope that people are honest when they pay with Paypal. Because they all now unless you've sent somethng registered and tracking they can get the item and get a refund.
