SELLERS - Heads Up Categories Stuffed Up Temporary

Hi Guys,

Spending time over in US and boards are alight with problems in various categories, info listings missing - this is hopefully a temporary hassle while eBay are attempting to streamline:

Do not erase or modify your saved listings just yet. I suspect it will take a few days to determine which problems are caused by the new categories, and which problems are just temporary glitches while the new categories are being implemented.

At some point all the old listings should be available again, and if you modify all your listings right now, your modifications may wind up being unnecessary or obsolete when the dust finally settles in a few days.

It would have been so easy when ebay changed the item specifics of books, to ensure that the database (or whatever) containing the original book 'title' was automatically updated to become the 'book title'. Why did they have to make it so hard?

Did it say what happens if not all updated by 12 July?  My understanding is that all current listings will be OK, but new listings have to have all the requirements.

All my listings have those 4 fields, however not in the new format as the title didn't carry over  (thereby having to update 3000++ listings) - is this designed to drive out smaller sellers??

After you addressing the ISBN issue of "does not apply" went back & checked some of my amended listings & noticed that it asks for UPC & if no ISBN listed it does not carry over  "does not apply" .  I've amended a couple hundred & never noticed this - am I doomed??

OK, update on ISBN (or UPC) which no longer has the option of "does not apply".  I entered in an invalid ISBN & it gave me the message - this is invalid number, enter another number or you can leave blank.  So it would seem that this is not compulsory at this stage.  

I've been entering in Book Title, Author & Language (which was already prefilled) & the listing drops off my list of "listings required to be updated with item specifics."  So it would seem that these 3 are the only compulsories.

The ebay email says:

These Required Soon item specifics are available now in your listing flows, and will be required starting July 12, 2021.  After this date, you won’t be able to publish new, relisted, or revised listings in the following categories without the Required item specifics:

They've replaced that with a (supposedly) not required UPC.

Therein lies the rub. The emailer obviously isn't across the changes, thus any 'information' they supply is dubious.
