Sales have hit a Wall

I have been a regular seller on e-bay since 2000 (yep 13 years) and I have never seen sales so critically low. The lack of sales combined with the increase in e-bay fees / paypal fees etc looks like after all these years time to finish up with with ebay and back to selling at the local weekend markets.

What I found that maybe helpful to a degree. Many of you who replied stated you sell things like pottery, cloths and other items. Well no matter if you have been on Ebay for 14 years or 14 days. The key to a successful sell is not how long you been here, but what you are selling. You as a seller must make that transition with the changing times we are in. I mean, you must sell things that are in demand. You have over a million sellers on Ebay you have to compete with in the US alone. Now you have more foreigners opening their listings up to the US site!! So you have to think like a foreigner. Crazy as that sounds. They do not sell as much in their own countries as they can in ours. So think like them. Also you can not sell what you know people are not willing to buy anymore. invest in things like Chinese silver dollars, Chinese items are going through the roof!! Jade snuff bottles, COINS certified coins foreign and domestic!! Banknotes, bonds, antiques, paintings, rare toys and many odd thing people consider true collectibles. It is not Ebay's fault. It is up to the seller to keep up with the trends. Ebay has grown and over the years have become a huge online market place that attract EVERYBODY from all over the world. So the search engine optimization and marketing they use to get your listing out there has dwindled to nothing almost. So what I am saying is Ebay is saturated with people buying. But very few are a success because they choose to sell things that has more a demand. You can make a few bucks selling nick knacks. But bottom line many people are making better financial choices and will not invest in things they can not turn a profit on. Yes many folk buy things to have it. But be realistic. Many of our buyers are looking to turn a profit. People are buying everyday on ebay. But they have become my selective in their buying!! So do a little research and see what is trending and begin to sell those things. You will see gains. But only if you are willing to get out of the mentality that everything is Ebay's fault. It is no ones fault. Just "rethink" how you are going to compete in an over saturated selling market that is only getting larger by the day. And never forget to keep The Most High in all your works glorify Him. He knows the way you take and will never allow you to fall. Be blessed. P.S. those whom will say something negative to my comment. This is a free and open discussion board and I am just offering my opinion as all those who has posted comments. Thank you.

I don't care how many foreigners open their listings up to US buyers. I do care how many open their listings up to the AUSTRALIAN site, which this is a board of.

Maybe He has blinded you to such mundane considerations.

Sales have hit a Wall

Well after consistent poor sales and high fees I packed up my goodies and set-up a stall at my local Sunday markets today (Karrinyup WA).

Although most market buyers are out for a bargain and haggling is part market selling it was great to sell a good percentage of my stock and deal with people face to face again.

Market selling may not be for everybody but I least it resulted in "sales" for me today....

This is what has happened but not a peep out of ebay.

They try to blame the sellers first, when that fails they blame hackers, but something has happened to ebay.

A good viable business with 100% pos f/back preferred seller status & the whole thing collapsed after 10 years.

What's going on???

It's all ebay isn't it ? All visible on ebay's site .I ,as a buyer have said what is influencing my not buying (same as a large b&m store who recently made an apology to disabled people..many vowing not to support that store with their custom .The effect however was aknowledged and an apology made). Some people are getting fussy and more particular where they spend their money .

also we are constantly being told how tire the situation in this Country is and the need to stop spending .That message constantly being told could perhaps discourage spending .

I would think that the boards are meant to be enticement rather than the opposite .If you respect a customers (or potential customer) opinion ...you were just given it
