Sellers,
All the new policies implemented by Ebay in the last year or so was only to step all over the sellers with their big, ugly, muddy boots:
- Boot no1: increase photo quality: doesn't sound that bad at first sight but when you have thousands of item listed for sale and you have to start going throught each and every listing to try and increase photo resolution, it becomes a complete nightmare. You can not make any revisions to the listing unless you deal with the photos first. Hours and hours of exhasuting, useless work when my photos are absolutely perfect and clear, only a tad smaller than the recommended style. Increasing the resolution only decreased the quality, it did not improve it.
- Boot no 2: Fees charged now for postage costs: uhm, why? I always try to find a reasonable explanation behind all their actions, all I find is greed, abuse, contmept, condescendence. Their explanation: we try to encourage sellers to keep their postage fees low. Ok, and this was the way to do it, accidentally by you making money out of it?
-Boot no 3: Ebay's money back guarantee: biggest blunder of all. Ebay, you are so far up the buyer's **bleep**, you can't see the reality anymore.
Here is my story to prove it: I've had good ratings and feedback so far, top rated seller and so on. Tried my best to offer top customer care, best communication with buyers, whatever they wanted, they needed, I was there.
Out of the blue, I get 3 new cases in my resolution centre, as some buyers have opened requests in relation to different issues they had.I was floored.
It proved that 2 out of the 3 customers haven't received their items, but they were waiting collection at the post office. Was it necessary to open a case against me? Did Ebay let these customers know that is best to contact me first, before going ahead and open these disputes? NO.
As a consequence of these disputes, Ebay automatically put a hold on my funds for all these purchases. EBAY, WE ALREADY HAVE PAYPAL FOR THIS! If the customer wanted to open a dispute, they would go to PayPal. But what you did, Ebay, is you created this new feature for the buyers, to gain their trust, to give them confidence, without thinking about consequences.
I emailed Ebay with a long letter of complain where I let them know exactly what I think about it all.
Of course all I received was a bland, full of non sense reponse that didn't address or aknowledged any of the issues raised above.
-Boot no4 or the Last Straw or the Domino Effect: Selling Limits: as a consequence of these buyers opening unfair cases against me, a selling limit has been imposed on my account. I had about 6,500 items for sale and now my limit is 2000 items. These 2000 items would actually be much less, as they count each item sold as one listing. For example, they calculated my 6.500 items that I had for sale last month, as an actual 19,000 items for sale, as they say this included variations.
It is absolutely ludicruous, I haven't sold this many items, not by far, nor relisted thousands of them.
And to decrease my selling limit so drastically? I currently have the anchor store for which I pay $500 per month only to list items.
THIS TYPE OF STORE ALLOWS TO LIST UNLIMITED NUMBER OF ITEMS.
Then, Ebay, explain to me how are you able to place this limit on my account when I am subscribed to the Anchor Store? I pay you so that I can list UNLIMITED NUMBER OF ITEMS, YET YOU PLACE A LIMIT ON IT.
As a result, today I decided to cancel my subscription and go on the smaller store at $50 per months, at least for the moment, until I hear a response from you.
So, see what you did, Ebay? You managed to kill my business, now you are missing out too! Instead of collecting thousands from me, monhtly, you will collect nothing!
You infringed my rights as a seller, you abused and humiliated me, you stepped all over me with you big, ugly, grubby boots and you think this will go unpanished?
Ebay, you will see more and more sellers will get sick of you and leave you, there will be an alternative soon because the demand is high. Sellers hate you, Ebay, for being, greedy, blind, stupid and unfair.
Have a nice day, sellers!

I agree....this new 'improvement' has given us trigger-happy buyers....where will it end??

Well said ! I agree with your comments 100%.
I powered down my 'Power seller' account this week and closed my ebay shop altogether and transferred to Betsy, as my ebay 'Seller experience' failed to deliver.
The lunatics have taken over the asylum, it is only a matter of time when the train wreck ebay has become finally falls off the cliff into the abyss.
Glad I closed my on-line store before Feebay gave us all a new ''Closing your account fee", with the slogan 'It's what ebay buyers expect, to enhance their buying experience, to know that a seller got whipped one time as they ran for the exits"'.
My boots are made for walking, and that is exactly what I did !!

the reason behind this is because ebay lost face when the site got hacked earlier this year.
so to show buyers the site is safe again they are placing sellers at great risk of being burnt by less than honest buyers. (way to go feebay)
it has backfired on you ebay because now sellers dont feel its not worth risking selling here because there is a 50/50 chance of being burnt...

Now that is the best explanation I have heard as to why ebay is doing what it is doing.

Something needs to be done. I can not believe there is no alternative to Ebay and they have this monopol, as I would close down tomorrow and move.
Where are all the entrepreneurs, where are all the businesses trying to take over a mammoth? Where are you all? Sellers are waiting for you!
We need a better place to sell, enough with this abuse! Quicksales, revamp your website and attract sellers, we want to come to you but you're not good enough yet!

All of my listing photos have plain white backgrounds, so I simply went in and expanded the white backgrounds. The actual items in the photos are not any bigger. Wotcha gonna do, eBay?
My photos. My business. If they're not large enough and they impact my business, surely that is my problem? (I get nothing but praise for my photos . . . I sell small items so a resolution of 348973945793759 x 394532957937459847 is just stupid).
