Hi....I have an auction style sale that ended on May 29th.....one successful winning bidder and I'm fine with that....BUT.....
Buyer hasn't done checkout - hasn't paid - hasn't replied to 3 emails.
There is a kind of amnesty on sellers getting defects or negs for cancelling auction style sales --- if done so by about 5pm AEST (I think) - today. Its cos of the whole change of password stuff - buyers may not be able to log in or something - I don't know.
I've been on the phone twice about this with vague answers.
My gut says I should cancel the sale ----- an email sent out to sellers and what I've been told on the phone says I will get my fees back and negs removed should I do this by this arvo.
But....it is sooner than I normally get wired about stuff. And it is a cancellation not an UPI dispute. Doing it this way means if the buyer is "innocent" so to speak....they won't get a black mark, but they will with an UPI....but am I doing the right thing?
I HATE this stuff.
If it was just a normal so-far-UPI......I would wait a few more days then open an UPI dispute....but I won't - apparently --- have the same "protection" against a neg.
What would you do?
I only have a couple of hours to decide on this.....help !!! Please !!!
Kitty ...venturing out to the boards for some broader feedback......

May 29th - (Thursday) can not open dispute until 2nd June - open tomorrow when the system allows if you feel you need to, but can I ask why you are in such a hurry ? It is the weekend, maybe the buyer has been away from the computer over the weekend.
I would at least wait until Monday, send a reminder to pay, and then maybe if no reply by COB Tuesday, go for the dispute.
Sorry, but this hacking stuff seems to have put everyone on panic mode.

Thanks Digi & Curraone.....I appreciate the replies.
Yes, I have come to the conclusion I'll follow my usual plan - give them the time-span I normally do for payment and the do as you do Digi - start the NPB case.
I am such a small time seller - it frustrates me no end to have this happen - and it has a few times now - which is a lot when I am only dabbling with selling.
Also why it gets me in a knot to have to decide what to do ---- didn't help with all this PW stuff and supposed "protection" emails and so forth.
Yeah....think I've got it sorted.....thanks everyone

Hi 2106greencat....... yes - it is "a hurry" from my normal way of operating....mainly stemmed from wondering IF I did a cancellation before this supposed deadline offered by eBay (which is today 5pm AEST).....then via a cancellation this buyer - would not be able to neg me nor would I be defected for instigating the cancellation.
I am happy with the sale price - I am not wanting to cancel to relist and "get more". I was very glad for the sale!
And such a cancellation (assuming eBay did let it fall within this special "amnesty" - type period ending this arvo)......would mean no black mark to the buyer....who would also be very welcome to rebid once I relisted.
A NPB thing - if they don't pay - will leave them with a black mark.
This buyer has been very absent (I mean - why not pay when sent an invoice on the 29th? Why not answer a seller's email of concern? They won on Thursday and took off on a holiday since then? Hmmmm.....)
However....I think the PW thingo has caused a panic mode (I was fine til I got that dumb "Seller Protection" email !!!).
Now I have had some more experienced folk give me their opinions, as I said - I'm going to go with a NPB case - IF they don't respond/pay within the next few days.....what would have been my normal route except I too got all twisted up with this PW and "seller protect" dribble.
I thank you for your input....much appreciated.
