Slow selling

Well, being a relatively new seller it's always been slow. The last few sales came quickly because the items were low price and popular but now it seems the interest in anything else is nil. It's hard to know what to do to make your listing stand out in a search to get the clicks.

Our sales have been very good lately - in fact we've just had a record week (and a couple of good weeks leading up to it as well).

I wish I knew why (and holding my breath waiting for it to change!).

I have been doing fine up till about 2 weeks ago.  Now, nothing, not even watchers!!!!  My items used to always all had watchers.  Today, I have only 1 watcher out of about 20 items   ?:|  Weird.

its not weird

its happening to all Aussie sellers

ebay now puts ebay sellers last in the searches

all worldwide sellers come up first thats why you cant even get views on the items anymore let alone watchers or sales

its almost like ebay wants all Aussies to be buyers only from other countries and not be able to sell anything

the way its going with how they now put all countries first unless the person looking to buy specifically click on Australia Only on the side bar means we all will be selling nothing because most buyers dont click on Australia only because they dont even know its there - and ive asked plenty to verify they dont know its there

So your slow sales will only get worse and never recover - sad but true

Yes it seems like us Aussies are not being dealt an even playing field at all.     I dont know if Ebay has a plan here or if they just dont get it but,   We have to deal with high postage rates,  a higher cost to bring over stock and really the fact we dont have much to entice overseas buyers as they can purchase many items from the states for cheaper.      I know personally the only thing I have going for my sales are the few Australians who want to get the items in a week and will pay a bit more.   Those buyers would have to click the australian only tab then the lowest price + postage.  Sure alot of buyers do this,  but I would lose all the buyers that just log on and start searching.   Hats off to all the sellers that have overcome this and have found a great product niche,  I know theres a few sellers on this board that are still doing quite well.

also ebay has done away with its unique counters

now every time you log in and look at your own item you count as a new view

if you dont log in every time you view your item you count as a new view

so take notice and you might notice practically no one is viewing your items buy you yourself

test it and you will see im telling the truth

log out each time and log back before viewing them and you will see it add you on the counter

or log out and click on the link in the email ebay sends you when you list an item - make sure your logged out when you do it

then close the browser - do it 20 times and you will register another 20 views on your item

then you will see

It's quiet in the real world also.

The pillars are crumbling under the house of cards.

Large financial institutions collapsing with life savings disappearing into black holes.

Giant retailers actually believing that they can win the war by lowering prices. KMart will collapse within 7 months and won't be able to pull another phoenix act.

Way too much uncertainty and unfortunately dwindling disposable income. Ebay has temporarily become the platform it's ancestor was. A garage sale with sellers accepting pennies for items that they would once have thrown out.

Perhaps we don't have the unofficial Hoovervilles like the USA but many of us have seen much better times.

This is the first time I have ever had to make an 'arrangement' to pay my GST.

Thankfully, in 7 years, I will be able to pursue a life of crime without the fear of incarceration....lol

It's not all bad news.

Our long suppressed humanity will assume it's rightful place and we will gain the realisation that the best things in life are not things.

freechoiceworld....

I have no doubt that what you say is correct but the counter ( in my case ) is also being tripped by actual visitors as well.
