Store Category Limit

Hi Sellers and all,

I'm finding that we're very close to busting our 300 category limit-cap ๐Ÿ™‚

Anyone have suggestions on what I should do?

Consolidate...

Actually, I would recommend that even if you weren't close to using all 300. :8}

I'm speaking purely as a buyer here, and have the best of intentions, but your categories would put me off browsing your store (at least via categories) simply because there's too many to make them easy to navigate and many of them don't distinguish product type. I clicked on the Angry Birds category and found that there is only one item, seems a bit of a waste and I personally would categorise primarily by product type before sub-categorising by brand(ing) etc (eg all CCG paraphernalia in one main category, with a few sub-categories as necessary).

Great idea. I thought about that. Trying to get a brain-storming session before I start. It is a lot of work moving items around as everything is in sync with my external store.

As the website doesn't have a limit, I paid no attention to eBay's limits. Bummer.

I change around categories every so often, and while it's not as quick and easy as some other tasks, it can be done in bulk via Selling Manager.

What I usually do is create a new category and any sub-categories that I want to have, and move all the listings going to those categories in groups, then delete the old ones. Probably the best thing to do is take stock of what you have, and work out any new categories first so you know exactly what's going where when you start.
