The buyer left negative feedback before trying to contact me about the item. He did send an email the next day but had already left negative feedback. He purchased a desktop computer - which was running perfectly when he picked up the item. He said he was going to load "'counterfeit" programms on it - which was really no interest to me but I did make note that he said this. In his email he said the computer "'died" within several hours of collecting it and said that "'I knew it was going to "'die"'...How on earth would I have known this????? He asked me to reply to him but his email was quite abusive! I have had 100% positive feedback and have been a member since 2002. I was rattled by his rude email and such negative feedback...but really what more can I do... By the way his purchase was very very cheap anyway.

hang on until someone comes along with more experience, but I think I read somewhere buyers can't leave negative feedback for a pickup item and you might be able to get it removed
probably wrong tho, I usually am

Are you familiar with what the computer looks like on the inside? Hopefully, he hasn't tampered with the motherboard, RAM, hard drive etc. I would ask him to bring it back or collect it back off him and inspect it. It looks quite good in the pics and, unless there was something seriously wrong with the hard drive, e.g. heaps of bad sectors, it shouldn't have just 'died'. If it is now full of viruses, you can reinstall the operating system from your original discs and the virus protection program you subscribe to. Did you sell it completely clean? Did you scan for bad sectors and keep a copy of the log as proof? The price he paid has nothing to do with it--you need to ensure with some certainty that you sold him a decent computer.

It could be the power unit has died so that will need to be replaced, this could happen at any time, one minute it's working fine then nothing.
And if the buyer has tampered with the motherboard and touched anything on it he could have damaged it.
Maybe the buyer couldn't use it for what he wanted to use it for and then decided to break it (just speculating) and now wants his money back?
